Pacman Jones Is Going on Vacation (No Word on the Weather Forecast)

Pacman JonesActually, by vacation, I mean suspension. The NFL has officially suspended the Titans cornerback for the entire season. And he won't be alone: Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry is suspended for the first eight games of the season.

Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to both Jones and Henry concerning the suspension. (Awww, that's so sweet and personal. No one sends letters anymore.) Here's what the commish had to say:

"Your conduct has brought embarrassment and ridicule upon yourself, your club, and the NFL, and has damaged the reputation of players throughout the league. You have put in jeopardy an otherwise promising NFL career, and have risked both your own safety and the safety of others through your off-field actions. In each of these respects, you have engaged in conduct detrimental to the NFL and failed to live up to the standards expected of NFL players. Taken as a whole, this conduct warrants significant sanction."

OK, that wasn't exactly sweet. That was more of a "shame on you, punks" type of letter.

So you make it rain a little, have a knack for being in the middle of gunfire, and may have had about 10 or so run-ins with the law, and all of a sudden you're an "embarrassment" to the NFL.

Oh, wait, those are actually some shady things. My bad.

Shame on you.
