The big sports events this past weekend were no doubt a horse race and a boxing match. (And yes the year is still 2007; you didn't enter a time warp that took you back to the '30s.)
So which sport took the top spot?
It's hard to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. entering the ring (with 50 Cent by his side) wearing a huge sombrero, trunks in the color of Mexico's flag, tassels on his boots, a robe inscribed with "Mexico Loves Mayweather, Mayweather Loves Mexico," all on Cinco de Mayo, in a fight against Oscar De La Hoya.
What? No Donkey?
Mayweather's outfit, virtually a slap in the face to De La Hoya, I thought would at least result in De La Hoya knocking him out.
But I thought wrong.
In the fight touted as the bout to save boxing, purists may have loved it, but there wasn't enough sizzle to bring the casual fan back. (Not unless there's a donkey next time.)
What was that? You want to see it again?
Well, you can check out a YouTube clip of the 12th round of Saturday night's Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather fight below and maybe a rematch in the future.
But until then, here's the 12th round:

De La Hoya was out-boxed the entire fight....and I felt fairly confident that it would turn out that way...why, you ask? Because I knew that Mayweather was skilled w/not only his formal boxing experience but also the natural sense of rhythm and timing that he undoubtly got from pure street training. De La Hoya is a wonderful fighter, I'm not attempting to deny him his props, but he was simply out matched this time around.

I don't know how anyone can call judge that fight and say that De La Hoya Won! I give De La Hoya two rounds at the most. The 8th round De La Hoya was gasping for air and tired from fatigue. Mayweather was much faster and more skilled. Mayweather was at the top of his game. For those who disagree with me watch the fight again. I don't know why people hate to see this man doing what he does with perfection. He may come off as being "cocky" but I call it "convinced". He is confident and convinced that he is at the top of his game and he now hold 5 world title belts.

I never like Mayweather. Whoever fought him I would root for the other man, to me he's just a punk-ass woman beater with a boxing career.

Prettyboy whipped the Goldenboy's ass.Gave his ass a boxing lesson. Was Stevie Wonder one of the judges? Stop hating on Mayweather. Support your own!

De La Hoya had the science taught to him... LMAO. Floyd was just lookin' too good in that fight; playing a precise "chess" game. Oscar, in my opinion, came out fighting like a kid with his shirt pulled over his head.
