Serena Williams won't go down without a battle. After collapsing onto the grass in the second set with a left calf injury, she managed to recover during a rain delay to gut out a three-set victory at
Basically playing on one leg, Serena found a way to win and gives credit to where credit is due:
"I was definitely saved by the rain," Serena would say later. "I couldn't move before the rain.
I could insert a completely legit Pacman Jones reference here ... but I won't ... but I could ... but I digress ... back to Serena's story:
I have to admire Serena's toughness and determination, especially since I was always the kid in elementary school who would give an Academy Award-worthy performance complete with "oh, the pain" and "save yourselves" after receiving a paper cut. Laugh, mock, turn you head up in disgust if you must, but it got me out of math.

A LOT OF US BLACK MEN SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS EVENT, SHE WAS A WOUNDED SOLDIER IN BATTLE, BUT SHE OVER CAME IT. YOU YOUNG BLACK MEN NEED TO UNDERSTAND WE HAVE THOUSANDS OF BLACK WOMEN LIKE SERENA AND VENUS WHO FIGHT THE BATTLE OF WINNING UNDER THE MOST WORST CONDITIONS. I WILL SAY AGAIN, IF IT WASN'T FOR OUR BLACK WOMEN JUST WHERE WOULD THE BLACK MAN BE TODAY, BECAUSE SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR US, IT IS JUST SOMETIMES WE DON'T UNDERSTAND OUR HISTORY TO APPRECIATE HER.

The Williams sisters are ausome, but how about the
family. Both mother and father and siblings were
there for Serena. She had to get up and give it her
all. Her family was right there praying and encouraging her. How could she fail with that tremendous support. It really gave me pride in this
great Black family. God Bless the Williams forever!

Can you see what faith, courage and determination can achieve? Serena's strong desire to be the best was so evident. I pray that she able to continue on and win the Wimbledon trophy or atleast beat Hinna!!!!

I must say, again this YOUNG SISTER has emenated with intestinal fortitude despite the negative comments of a few sportscasters(mainly 2,Mary/John)of the most popular sports network in the world, implying that her injury was an act worthy of an oscar. I find it amazing that A non-black tennis player can complain of having, a (VIRUS not HIV)for almost 2 years(HUH!!!!), back out in the middle of a match because of so called upset stomach(Lame excuse), not to mention her episode of not owning up to raising her hand to ask Serena to hold play in the middle of her serve and not admitting to the referee that she did it(Dishonest/no sportsmanship) and let us not forget the host of non-black tennis players on the main circuit who have oscillating injuries(shoulder problems etc, etc) that vary in severity depending on whether or not they are playing Serena or Venus, non-severe injuries that are given validity by the previously mentioned sportscasters(mind you these 2 have no types medical degrees what-so-ever)but when it comes to Serena and Venus they take a Master to Slave attitude by wanting them to continue to playing no matter how severe their injuries are. Serena, Venus their father and family as a matter of fact are pretty closed lipped about their affairs. Let me encourage them to continue to be that way. Because no matter what, the fact cannot be changed, that what they have accomplished has been the first of its kind in tennis and there is only ONE FIRST.
Keep it pumping Baby Girl!!!! you represent well
Sincerely,
Has watched Tennis for more than 30 yrs.
