Serena Williams won't go down without a battle. After collapsing onto the grass in the second set with a left calf injury, she managed to recover during a rain delay to gut out a three-set victory at
Basically playing on one leg, Serena found a way to win and gives credit to where credit is due:
"I was definitely saved by the rain," Serena would say later. "I couldn't move before the rain.
I could insert a completely legit Pacman Jones reference here ... but I won't ... but I could ... but I digress ... back to Serena's story:
I have to admire Serena's toughness and determination, especially since I was always the kid in elementary school who would give an Academy Award-worthy performance complete with "oh, the pain" and "save yourselves" after receiving a paper cut. Laugh, mock, turn you head up in disgust if you must, but it got me out of math.

I have to say it was nothing short of amazing, looking at her face and the way her leg was twitching you could tell how much pain she was in but she pulled through. Zeta, like you i was highly upset when because she pulled out the win, John, Mary and a whole bunch of BBC reporters said she was faking it. Maria sharapova has stopped so many games because she was losing and do they have any comments for her? No. Besides Serena came back in the second set for five-all. Why would she decide to fall when she was winning?
When reporters act like this i know that is when Serena needs the black community the most. I hope that knowing that we are with her and support her will help her ignore the haters.

Outstanding, the Williams sisters make my heart smile.
Glorius representation of what determination, hardwork, and talent can do. Everytime they hit the court there is a negative response from "some", or actions by the tennis "powers that be" example; unseeded for the doubles, yet they beat out the top doubles player. Negative talk about being out of shape or not having played enough tournaments yet they continue to win or beat out the current "flavor of the day". These young women are on top of their game and have incredible support from family and fans. Serena and Venus love ya girls, continue to make your life a Grand Slam!!!
