According to divorce papers filed Tuesday in a Miami court, the marriage between the NBA star and his wife of five years, Shaunie, is "irretrievably broken."
So what exactly caused the break up of this height-disproportionate duo? No specifics were given, but the culprit may be what nearly half of all divorced couples in the United States cite as the primary reason for their marital split: money.

I DON'T CARE HOW YOU FLIP IT, TWIST IT, OR DIP IT SHE IS WRONG!!! WHEN YOU'RE COMMITTED TO ONE ANOTHER THERE ARE NO SECRETS( ESPECIALLY FINANCIAL). She must have known this day would come so she hid a few duckets so that she would be ok, you know shaq proably play around off the court and maybe her too? who knows but what ever the out come they got those kids to look after that should be the main thing

What about Shaq being wrong for all the women he slept with during their marriage? She could have died from Aids. He can make more money but you your money can't get you another life. n He started this mess. She kept his mess private so that he could look like a family man in the media but he is trying to destroy her in public and that's wrong too.

Another double standard man. Shaq should be ashamed of himself. He has betrayed his wife and broken their marital vows by being with other women. He opened that door of betrayal and distrust now he cann't handle a drop of what he has dished out to her. He should man-up and act like a woman.....deal with the blows that life can bring with diginity.

SOUNDS like shaq got caught cheatin!! and Shaunie started thinking about "Shaunie" and her kidz. one thing about a "REAL MOTHER" is she will always out think a man when it comes to her future and her kidz. SHE new the day was going to come when shaq would tell her "HONEY i want a Divorce" he is madd because he got caught so many times she is feed Up!! remember KOBE said when he got caught that "Shaq does it to " Little Brotha told on Big Brotha"... Shaunie just hit him "got him back were it would hurt him the most" with out cheating on him! she caught him and told him this is why i was spending yo' $$ Nigga now What!....

I'm sorry to see that his marriage has dissolved. It would be nice to see some famous couples tough it out and work on their marriages. especially when there are children involved. It doesn't matter how much mone they have, the children still have lost something special in their lives.

We BLACK /AFRICAN AMERICAN FOLKS are just messed up when it comes to "Long Marriages and Working things out in relationships". Yes, there are still a lot of good relationships and Yes, Slavery may have a little to do with it but that is over with now. The Generation of 40 something, 30 something and 20 something are not about sharing and being there like the folk of yesterday. I think about the days of when MARTIN LUTHER KING JR, married at 24 and stay Married to the same Women no matter what the pitfalls were people tried to work things out...I am talking about all the people in his day, yes, you had some breakups, but these days we have too many issues----People-GOLDDIGGING, CHEATING-LIKE-CRAZY,STEALING FROM EACH, BURNING PEOPLE UP, BAR-B-QUEing PEOPLE (YES THIS DID HAPPEN), GREEDY FOR MORE THAN ONE MATE, or for some--- BLACK MEN DON'T LIKE BLACK WOMEN, OR BLACK WOMEN DON'T LIKE BLACK MEN -DRAMA--, OR THEY GO ALL KINDS OF SEXUAL WAYS WITH THIS ONE AND THAT NOT THINKING ABOUT THEIR PARTNERS FEELINGS, AND ALL KINDS OF OTHER CRAZY STUFF BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT (NO ONE BEING EQUALLY YOKED WITH THE TRUE LOVE OF "GOD" IN THEIR LIVES) SO WHAT ELSE IS THERE FOR THEM TO DO BUT PART.

Shaq, I don't know fully your situation and don't need to. But I do know that a woman who puts a little something to the side for tomorrow is a smart woman who was taught well by another smart woman. This piece of advice has been handed down from mothers to daughters for generations. It sounds to me that she not only conserved what the two of you have but built upon it too. Talk about intelligence! I hope the two of you can reconcile.
