Shaquille O'Neal is working with about 325 pounds, four championship rings, and one soon to be ex-wife.
According to divorce papers filed Tuesday in a Miami court, the marriage between the NBA star and his wife of five years, Shaunie, is "irretrievably broken."
So what exactly caused the break up of this height-disproportionate duo? No specifics were given, but the culprit may be what nearly half of all divorced couples in the United States cite as the primary reason for their marital split: money.
Hmmm ... maybe she was just saving for a rainy day ... without telling her husband ... yes, a rainy day ... or a flood of Noah's Ark proportions ... with no Shaq in sight ...
Anyhow, you no doubt feel a little sad for the big guy. After all, the singles scene can be somewhat depressing at times.
How is a single-and-ready-to-mingle NBA player with a five-year contract worth a $100 million, and a house on the market for $32 million, supposed to meet females interested in keeping him company? Oh wait a sec ...

You can spin it anyway you wish, but it was garbage what she did, if that is the way she handled it. What for? She had and still has everything a person could want. For you females who keep saying it was alright to STEAL AND BUY HOMES OR PROPERTY IN HER NAME ONLY, there has to be something wrong with you. Yes, I know GOLDDIGGERS! Didn't she think that this would come to light? Why didn't she think about the children if and when she would get caught. I'm a CHRISTIAN OPLD MAN, BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE TRUST, YOU HAVE NOTHING. Mark this down! There is another MAN involved somewhere!

As a sucessful black man I am appalled at some of these comments excusing Shaunie for keeping her own stash. What kind of backwards s**t is that for a wife (or husband for that matter) to hide money from their spouse. I'm having a hard time believing some of the expressed here in these comments supporting her behavior. And black women wonder why we date/marry white women....

Larry Tat, I was doing fine until I read your "ignorant"
statement. Don't speak for other black men that are married to white women, I would like to think that some of them just happen to fall in love with them and not because they have shut their hearts down to black women.
"You" probably married one because you think white women are better than an African American woman and you think you got something every black would like to have....(I don't think so)...and if I was a betting woman, I would bet my paycheck that the one you have, is one that no white man would want. Why is it that you feel a black wealthy man sharing his wealth with a white woman is okay, she loves him for himself, she doesn't want him for his money, but a black female, all she want is
the money. Who told you that black women can't fall in love with a man and love him for who he is? News flash....if you do have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of, divorce that white woman and I promise you will pay out your nose. Especially, if she has given birth to your little black children. I hope enough Black man will comment on that ignorant comment you made....I refuse to believe your theory is given on behalf of all Black man married to White women.

By the way, no spouse should own or buy anything the other doesn't know about or agree upon. We don't know why she did it.....only she and the Lord knows and of
course we'll never really know the truth....Sad News!

HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE!!
Some of you guy's are talking about how wrong Shaunie was wrong for buying property without Shaq's knowledge have NO CLUE what Shaunie has gone through with Shaq Fool.
She had a 24 hour job raising six kids and keeping the home ready for Shaq. She worked and did not get paid for all the work she did.
I still say Shaunie did not expose Shaq when he was pushed into the media for having sex with the Video Girl and other women. She covered for him and made him look like the perfect gentlemen so why didn't he cover for her. It's not about the money. He has plenty of that. He is mean and controlling. He wants to destroy her but he will reap what he has sown. Shaq does not want the pre-nup agreement exposed becasue we will all see why she did what she did. All of this mess should have remained private. But no Shaq is out to destroy the mother of his children.
Love covers a multitude of sin so Shaq should have covered for her like she covered for him for years.
I smell a Shaq Rat!

That's the reason why so many black women are without a man or head of household because of the way you think..Some of you women make comments on here saying that Shaunie was right in hiding money and/or stocks from Shaq ?Why would she have to hide anything from him ? She has four children from him so if they get a divorce she will still get 20% or more of his income (25 million per year). She had no right to hide any money from him for any reason...She was wrong as two left shoes...But to read what some of you women comments shows me why some of you women if not most of you will never get a man with money..Because your thinking is all wrong from the startAnd some of you all wonder why you go home to a empty house and can't KEEP a man...chance your thinkingI've been married for 11 years and what's mine is my wifes'.When you hide something like that in a marriage...the trust is gone..If he was "messing around" and she didn't approve of it..she should have filed for divorce...not hide money.I ant' saying she's a gold-digger..but that was dumb. The judge would have given her a good share...now she got to explain to the court why she hide that money...and some of you think she was right...that's a crack move...

If I recall correctly, didn't Shaunie cheat on and leave her first husband for Shaq? I bet the money issue is really a non issue and this whole situation goes a lot deeper. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

You all have got to be kidding. They are married, what do you mean "a rainy day fund". He deserves to know what she is or had been hiding if that is in fact the case. He makes millions and she makes some money, yes she has four kids from him. I am not saying that she dosen't deserve anything, I am sure he would as he as always done provide her as well as for his children. It is crazy for people think that it's ok to "hide" things from your spouse.

I dont understand why men say "Its my money." No i am sorry the day you say I do it becomes your money no more it becomes "OUR MONEY." She had every rite to his cash. She did what she thought she was doing for the marriage and that was putting some up for a rainy day. Anyhow when he does get the divorce she will clean him up with Child Support. Remember the song by Johnny Taylor- Its Cheaper to Keep Her.
