Marion Jones was once the cover girl for the Summer Olympics.
She represented her country, her sport, and female athletes with grace, strength and style and won five medals in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Now she can almost certainly kiss those medals goodbye.
The track star has admitted to using steroids during those Summer Games and is expected to plead guilty today in New York to two counts of lying to federal agents about her drug use.
I have little doubt that Jones' back was up against the wall and her only option was to come clean, because that seems to be the only reason why athletes and stars admit to guilt these days (i.e. Michael Vick) ... when there is simply no other option out.
It's rational to believe that Marion Jones didn't know that she was cheating, that she simply took whatever her trainers were feeding her. However, Jones has been adamant in press conferences and interviews, insisting that she never, ever, not once took performance enhancing drugs.
Never say never.
Obviously, she wasn't so "sure" while she was saying "never."
Jones will most likely be stripped of her five Olympic medals, including two golds, and could face a prison sentence. How does a woman who was once on top of the world hit rock bottom like this?

There is a possibility she was not aware of what she was taking she could have been honestly misinformed, however if she had knowledge, "to bad to sad", we must reap what we sow.

Why shouldn't they be allowed to use steroids? Their bodies are their machines--I say let them fill up their machines with the best, high-octane fuel out there. If everyone is allowed to use them, then it will be up to each person to decide making it a level playing field. As it is now, many many athletes use them--it is only the ones who get caught who are punished. That's no level playing field....

I am soooo disappointed in Marion! I have been rooting for her since the beginning.I was proud of her as a young Black woman making her way in life, only to find out that she is totally dishonest. it's a sad day for our community. Black celebrties are really giving us a bad rep these days. please stop! RESPECT yourself, be honest, and stop acting like BUSH!

I feel bad for her. I mean she has lost everything: her home, her reputation, her medals. Her world as she knew it is gone.
And as for steroids, I could take all the steroids in the world and NEVER be able to run as fast as Marion Jones. It doesn't turn one into an athlete, it just enhances what they naturally have. To me, it is on the same level as a vocalist getting a voice coach or an painter taking an art class: they already have the natural ability, but they just want to cultivate it. So should trained artists and vocalists be sent to court and stripped of any accolades they have received?

These drugs performance enhancing robots are all a bunch of SELLOUTS. Remember Women can lie better then men. Their far more convincing and for someone as articulate, marketable and media friendly as Mss.. Jones it's all the more two faced. It shows pure contempt for her fans and the authorities. Mostly the Fans. The authorities have rules that are unfair such as missing doping test leading to a drugs suspension or naturally occuring steroids that register higher in the different racial body types, however Marion has not got these excuses. She thought she was nice, she thought she was cute, otherwise she wouldn't have fronted for so long. She's the fastest two faced female hypocrite on two legs. Her Integrity rating is minus 1000 and I hope ten years from now ,the steroids take their effect and engross her body to fulfil its already androgynous quasi-masculine appearance. Marion Now you got time on your hands , Go fix your buck Teeth…….. done all dem years she was sporting braces on her grill……….. Peace……..

What a shame. These athletes know that steroids are illegal and that they take a chance of being caught. It is the risk they take and the choice they make. I'm sure there are others using steroids, but it doesn't make it right. The Olympics is about being the best, and natural ability, not enhanced ability through the use of steroids. It really is a shame, and is an International discrace to the U.S.

I don't think Marion should have to return her medals. They didn't make Mark McGuire return his awards for the homerun title. Her only crime was lying.
