Do You Believe in Magic? Despite Tony Romo, Cowboys Pull Off a Thriller

Tony Romo

Tony Romo entered the Bills-Cowboys 'Monday Night Football' game with good looks, 11 TDs, a bandwagon of critics calling him the NFL's next big thing and an emerging mystique ... the kid apparently could do no wrong.

Amazingly, he still has his good looks, after the Cowboys squeaked, nonetheless in a stunning fashion, past the Bills Monday.

Yes, Romo posted some ill stats in the unlikely win including five interceptions, two of which resulted in TDs, and a costly fumble on a scramble.

Yet the Cowboys still came out on top, remaining undefeated, with a thrilling 25-24 victory in Buffalo. All thanks to an onside kick, Romo getting them in field goal range and rookie kicker Nick Folk nailing a 53-yard field goal ... twice, courtesy of the Bills pulling one of those oh-so-vogue last second timeouts just before the snap of the first kick.

In a game, where the 'Boys, one of the league's elite teams this season, were supposed to obliterate and embarrass the Bills, the worst-ranked pass defense in the league, Buffalo put up a good fight as any on national TV ... but still lost.

The most amazing thing about last night's game was not an onside kick recovery or (technically two) game-winning field goals. No, it was that after putting his team in a hole, which looked at many times to be one Dallas could not overcome, Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, and what looked like the entire Cowboys locker room stood behind Romo rooting him on.

Terrell Owens"The good, the bad, the ugly, everything that could happen, happened tonight," Owens said after the game. "I constantly went to his ear to tell him, 'Hey it's not going to be easy.' ... We didn't give up on Tony at all."

Crayton added, "We kept saying, 'Dude, hey, we got you."

Normally, a six turnover performance is just cause in a receiver's mind to turn on his QB. Make a scene, yell a bit, possibly throw some things, then ultimately sit on the bench and pout.

But so was not the case Monday.

Tight end Jason Witten even said the QB's performance should only elevate Romo's status.

"If there was any doubt there, they need to believe now," Witten said. "I was trying to stay in his ear and support him, but he doesn't need it. He keeps on fighting and knows he can make big plays at the end."

After such a horrendous performance, you may want to hold off on anointing Tony Romo ... but after leading his team back, and having an entire locker room behind him, there may be some magic to this guy after all.
