Grant Hill and Mom Janet Suit Up to 'Feud'

The Sun's new forward Grant Hill and his mom Janet are feuding.

Except this battle doesn't have anything to do with courtrooms, lawyers or screaming matches involving the phrase "I hate you!"

No, "Survey Says ..." this duo is ready to play 'Family Feud.'

Grant and five other NBA players will face off against their moms in a special 'NBA Players vs. NBA Mothers Week' on the veteran game show 'Family Feud.'

The show's NBA starting five consists of Grant, Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors), Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Richard Jefferson (New Jersey Nets), David Lee (New York Knicks), and Cuttino Mobley (Los Angeles Clippers). They'll take on their moms: Janet Hill, Frieda Bosh, Sheryl Howard, Meekness LeCato, Susan Lee and Jackie Mobley, respectively.

The competition may be stiff, but Grant and mom Janet have put in plenty of practice for this showdown.

"It was our favorite show when Grant was a kid," Janet told the Arizona Republic. "When Grant was maybe from about 8 to 15 we would sit at dinner together every night and watch. We knew we could win 'Family Feud' if we just had a big enough family.

"There are only three of us. Grant's an only child, I'm an only child and (Grant's father, former NFL star) Calvin is an only child. So we kept talking about various friends of ours we could expropriate and make them part of our family and win 'Family Feud."

Their family never got bigger, but hey, when you have professional athletes in your clan, the sky's the limit on what you can do because the Hills are set to rumble on the 'Feud' now, baby!

Also, there's more at stake then just being the survey champ -- $65,000 in prize money for NBA Cares Community Partners. The players will be playing for KaBOOM! (a non-profit that builds playgrounds) and the moms will be playing for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The Hills are a smart bunch. Grant is an African-American art enthusiast (and married a woman who looks like this) and Janet , a former teacher, currently is a vice president of a business consulting firm and sits on the boards of three companies and Duke's business school, but guessing the answers to survey questions is apparently a "lot harder" than one thinks.
One early question asked for another name for "toilet." The moms guessed lavatory.

Survey said!

Potty, can, head, throne - but not lavatory.

"It wasn't even up there," Janet said. "The mom's were saying, 'I am never going to say that I'm going to the throne.'
OK ... there's a possibility the NBA fellas could wax the floor with their moms, but here's hoping the moms come packing ammo in the form of embarrassing stories of their sons like, "Remember that time when you were butt naked and, oh, here are the photos ... Mr. Cameraman can you do a close-up?"

Prerecorded episodes run Nov. 12-16, check your local listings for time.
