Britney Spears Hits a New Low, Courtesy of the NFL

Which starlet would you want cheering on the sidelines for you?

NFL players who came out for the SI Sportsman of the Year party this week in Manhattan were asked that question and Giant's R.W. McQuarters chose Britney Spears. However, before anyone could utter the words "Are you intoxicated? Perhaps, criminally insane," McQuarters quickly revised his selection saying, "In 2001! Not Britney today."

Ouch.

That's the equivalent of someone coming up to you at the reunion and saying, "Hey, you looked so much better in college. What happened to you? Been living at the Dairy Queen?"

Yet the man speaks the truth.

The Hollywood trainwreck that has become Britney's life continues. She's blonde, wears hardly any clothes and still an NFL player wants nothing to do with her.

This speaks volumes. The bottom is rapidly approaching.

(You'd love to think this means athletes have upped their standards ... but such is probably not the case.)

I was not a big fan of the lip-synching Britney back in the day, to be precise, I couldn't stand her. Yet I'll confess now, the girl could dance and, I hate to admit it, she was quite the performer. A vocal artist she clearly was not, however it does take some talent to gyrate like this. (emphasis on some)

However, it's 2007 and this is Britney today:

Forget about dance, she can barely walk in a straight line.

At this point, she might not even be able to land a Knicks star's backseat.
