Nonprofit organization Aid Still Required has gathered a handful of NBA stars to participate in their campaign to get aid in the Darfur region of Sudan. For the last five years there has been civil war raging on with close to 400,000 Africans murdered plus countless women and children raped. Aid Still Required is calling on NBA stars like Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Grant Hill, Baron Davis, Derek Fisher, Emeka Okafor, Matt Barnes, Andrew Bynum, Ira Newble, Eric Snow, Luol Deng and others to get the word out about Darfur through various public service announcements.
"We believe everyone, everywhere is entitled to live in dignity, health and peace," said Hunter Payne co-founder of Aid Still Required with his wife Andrea. "The people of Darfur have been utterly denied this. Villagers are being systematically tortured, disfigured and slaughtered. Collectively we have the means to stop the violence and to restore their lives. Who are we if we stand idly by and watch yet another genocide take place? We must act and we must act now before more unspeakable atrocities take place."
The first PSA features Kobe Bryant, with 15 other PSAs from NBA players to follow. Bryant's PSA aired for the first time today and if you missed, check it out here:

For all of us that like to comment or offer advise to celebrities like Eddie Murphy, Beyonce, Tracey Edmonds, and others please make a positive here. I have noticed all too many times we forget where our lineage began and that's Africa. I know that it is sometimes very difficult being a black man, woman and child in our own communities with subtle racism, the occassional jeers, and the reminders that we are not white practiced daily by others. Lets remember that we were blessed to be born in the 21st century and the USA. The pain and hardships we tolerate pales trememdously to what the people of Darfur, Rwanda, Sudan, Sierre Leone, Kenya and many other countries endure on a daily basis.
If we cannot help these NBA stars monetarily to bring aid to Darfur can we at least take a moment to offer kind words of encouragement to the players for their efforts and let the people of Darfur know that our hearts and prayers are with them. I guarantee your spirit will be energized.
To the NBA players thank you for your time. To the people of Darfur my prays to you and your countrymen/women please know that peace will come to you with the arrival of a messenger of peace.

Blogger 2 DeniseJ, It is so important that we have people like yourself that are still around. As you said, Those NBA players will always have peace for the role and parts that they take in helping the Human Beings that are suffering in Sudan, Africa. I also would like to give Oprah her Prompts too for what she has done for children in Africa. I would like to know, what is it that ordinary people like myself can do to help. I just want my African People to know that we did not forget them, many of us were seperated and, to this day, we still have no idea who our families are in Africa. I want to help, and I will help.

All the Africans that are here should be doing something also. African blood didn't stop flowing in their veins when they set foot in this country. Tell me, What African(s) are doing something? I need to know.
