Back in 2006 Ron Artest dropped his debut album, My World, on his Tru-Warier Records imprint. Although it wasn't that well-received, he managed to go on tour with the likes of Fat Joe, Young Jeezy, and Fat Joe to promote the album and get a little bit of respect for his stage presence.
"I realize that even though I have some sort of celebrity established as a basketball player, I'm still a new, up-and-coming artist and I have to work hard, do my grind, and prove myself, just like any other new artist does," Artest told us back in 2006. "I always knew there were going to be people who don't take me seriously as an artist; those people probably don't take any ball player seriously who's trying to do music. And there are always haters, everywhere you go. But I do take music seriously, and hopefully when I release my second album, people will understand that I'm serious about this."
Lately, Artest has been making his rounds on the mixtape circuit. Although he has no album planned for this year, the rapping baller will be appearing on and hosting several mixtapes including DJ Hurricane's "Kings in Da Game, Vol. II" and DJ Metro Dee's "Co-Signing Vol. 8: Tru Gangstas" which will be featured on an upcoming episode of MTV's "Mixtape Monday" towards the end of April. Ron Ron sent us two tracks that'll be heard on various mixtapes, one is a freestyle of sorts over some beats of popular hip-hop hits and another is an original song called "My Doe". Check it out!

That blows! I'm all for athlete/musician cross overs but the beats and rap are worthless.

I am not a rapper but it is rather refreshing to see atheletes with interest other than sports. Good for you Mr. Artest.

Not bad Ron-Ron, you can do whatever the hell you want with your money, and just think if it fails, your're not a rapper anyway, no major loss........you can just keep your day job.

there is a former detroit lions brother who is going to be on the next space flight. i would love to see more black athletes cross over doing something like that. im tired of our kids only looking up to rappers and athletes and actors im also hoping that if obama wins more black boys will want to grow up and help change this country for the better.

Some people just don't know when to stay in their lane, that's exactly why they create accidents just like this one (Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha).

I flew on the same plane as this ball playing fool. I thought he was mentally ill and he wouldn't listen to the flight attendants who kept telling him to turn off his music. It was so loud you could hear it 15 rows back and he had the earphones stuck in his ears, bobbing his head like he was Autistic. What was really dumb is how black men kept running up to him, from brothers in business suits to thugs in baggy pants trying to shake his had. I guess I don't get it, just because a man can play with a ball like a trained animal that makes him someone to chase down in the airport. And when they did catch up with him, he looked at every brother from the ones in suits to young brothers in jerseys as if they were dirt, and he didn't want to be bothered. My friend grabbed her son and told him to go ask for the autograph if the black attorney who is on all the commercials in our town who happened to be in the airport. LOL
