Lewis Hamilton to Join Allen Iverson on Reebok?

According to a story in the Times of London and the UK's Daily Mail, popular Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton is close to signing a $20 million deal with Reebok, joining athletes like Allen Iverson, and soccer players Thierry Henry and Andriy Shevchenko on the company's roster. The paper also reports that Hamilton is in talks with Pepsi for an endorsement deal as well. Typically, McLaren Team drivers aren't allowed to sign individual endorsement deals, but due to Hamilton's worldwide popularity, the team is allowing him to do his thing, in hopes of bringing back some of that attention to McLaren's endorsement deals.
CNN International reports that if the deal with Reebok goes through, Hamilton will surpass David Beckham as Britain's highest earning athlete. In January, Hamilton signed a five-year contract with the McLaren Racing team worth an estimated $140 million, and also has deals -- through the team -- to promote Bombardier, which flies him free of charge in its luxury jets, Mobil, Vodafone, Tag Heuer, Boss clothing and Hilton hotels. Hamilton also got a cool $4 million for his autobiography from HarperCollins books. It's estimated that Beckham is earning $32 million a year at the moment.
