According to a report from the Associated Press, boxer Evander Holyfield is having some major financial difficulties. You're wondering why Holyfield is still trying to box at the age of 45? His $10 million estate in Atlanta is under foreclosure, he owes $550,000 to a Utah landscaping company who are suing, and one of his baby mommas is taking him back to court for missed child support payments, ranging around $3,000 a month for one child. Evander has at least nine children, according to the Associated Press. There was a legal notice in a local Atlanta paper announcing that Evander's elaborate 54,000-square-foot home - located on Evander Holyfield Highway - which has 109 rooms, including 17 bathrooms, three kitchens and a bowling alley, will be auctioned off on July 1.
No one is likely sure how much money Evander made in his 27-year career, but we do know that he made $34 million in his second fight against Mike Tyson in 1997, when he got his ear bit off. In 2003, courts came to the conclusion that Evander was making around $604,000 a month when stipulations for child support was being made.
As far as making money, it doesn't look any easier for the former champ. He won four fights in a row after he came back from a two year layoff in 2006 but in 2004 lost his boxing license in New York because of his poor performances. His worth as a main attraction has significantly declined. His last fight was in October where he lost to Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow for the WBO belt. Maybe he should start doing more reality shows?

I hope that many Christians will join me in praying that he not lose his home. He is one of the few entertainers I saw for years making a stand on tv for Christianity. God has not forgotten him.

This is really sad! How does one live in a home with 109 rooms???? 54,000 square feet of what?????
If you look at MC Hammer and Mike Tyson's old homes...they were way elaborate and cost them significantly! MC Hammer nor Tyson resides in their built by design overwhelming homes! This should be a wake up call for a lot of people...especially boxers, athletes and entertainers in general! Here today gone tomorrow! Anything can happen, perhaps no fault of your own, regardless ~ you can lose everything that you have prided yourself with, faster than you acquired it! How does one live in a home with 109 rooms, yet his 9+ kids live in apartments and various subpar dwellings! Wasn't he a minister at one point???? What is really going on???????? I am NOT feeling sorry for someone who made a lot of money and obviously a lot of kids, and even more poor decisions than the both combined! I am saving my empathy for the man who lost his job and is finding a honest way to feed his family as best he can!

AMEN Sloane! And before the rest of you "Saved" Christians berate Sloane and I for not feeling sorry for Holyfield OR accuse us of judging him, remember, he didn't have 109 people living with him in that house, so why the opulence if he was a true chrisitian? I'm just asking....

evander holyfield is a phoney, he praises god constantly, he has dozens of kids out of wedlock by dozens of women. it look like he would of wraped it up by the third or fourth kid. he spends all his money on a house that after his career is over its impossable to afford it probly have a large staff to maintain. this is a guy who fake the funk for years and wound up faking himself out. this story is worse than tyson.

If he stood for Christianity he would be taking care of his children and not owe back child support. Saying and doing are two different things.

It is interesting at how several of the comments above don't even offer a free prayer to help this man. I'm glad God is the Judge. There are over 4 million millionaires in the US and hundreds of billionaires. Each one of them needs the grace of God to see another day just like those of us with nothing. If they fall, we should help them up just like we would want to be helped if we fall. You don't stop making mistakes just because you are wealthy.

It's interesting how the commentators above do not offer even a free prayer for this man in his time of trouble. I'm glad God is the Judge. The only requirement for forgiveness is repentance and true Christians know this. There are over 4 million millionaires in the US and hundreds of billionaires. They make mistakes just like the rest of us. They need God's grace and mercy just like the rest of us.

Let me tell you all something real quit saying that Holyfield is a Christian because he is not I personally Know Evander he is truly, a fake a phony and tried to pimp people by talking about God all the time he only used God as a marketing strategy for his on personal use I do know that people makes mistakes but Holyfield had been warned about these situations he invested in deals that he was advised not to but deals that were good he would not listen Holyfield is getting exactly what he is suppose to get and it is going to get worst he played with God too much fornicated like a dog, cheated on his wife several times and built a house that was a waste of money what god fearing man does this Matter of fact I would not waste one prayer on this scumbag if you all knew him then you all would agree

There some of you go idolizing a man who has way too many kids in, or out of wedlock. He is not someone who has the common sense or god forbid the education to be a responsible human being. What the hell does he need 109 rooms for and no steady WINNING championships to support the upkeep on such an unneccesary mansion. He missed child support payments,he missed mortgage payments, what a hot mess he is.Perhaps he suffered one too many blows to the head. What a waste. All that money squandered by this uneducated cretin. He makes me sick to my stomach.
