Real Deal Evander Holyfield... Real Broke

According to a report from the Associated Press, boxer Evander Holyfield is having some major financial difficulties. You're wondering why Holyfield is still trying to box at the age of 45? His $10 million estate in Atlanta is under foreclosure, he owes $550,000 to a Utah landscaping company who are suing, and one of his baby mommas is taking him back to court for missed child support payments, ranging around $3,000 a month for one child. Evander has at least nine children, according to the Associated Press.

There was a legal notice in a local Atlanta paper announcing that Evander's elaborate 54,000-square-foot home - located on Evander Holyfield Highway - which has 109 rooms, including 17 bathrooms, three kitchens and a bowling alley, will be auctioned off on July 1.

No one is likely sure how much money Evander made in his 27-year career, but we do know that he made $34 million in his second fight against Mike Tyson in 1997, when he got his ear bit off. In 2003, courts came to the conclusion that Evander was making around $604,000 a month when stipulations for child support was being made.
As far as making money, it doesn't look any easier for the former champ. He won four fights in a row after he came back from a two year layoff in 2006 but in 2004 lost his boxing license in New York because of his poor performances. His worth as a main attraction has significantly declined. His last fight was in October where he lost to Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow for the WBO belt. Maybe he should start doing more reality shows?
