Your favorite shaving cream and razor company, Gillette, announced that Derek Jeter will join Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry and Roger Federer as a Gillette Champion. Basically, Jeter becomes a part of Gillette's global ad campaign and gets a free life supply of Gillette products. So you'll see him in print, on television, and probably hear him on the radio hawking some shaving cream.
"Being a part of the Gillette Champions program is a great honor for me," Jeter said in a statement. "In baseball, having confidence is essential, and a critical element of confidence is looking and feeling my best."
"The Gillette name is synonymous with being the best. Jeter has proven he has what it takes to be a champion on the field," added Chip Bergh, Procter & Gamble, Group President, Global Personal Care. "He was chosen not only for his outstanding sporting performances, but also for his performance off the field, in his charitable actions and his reputation as an icon of true sporting values. That is what the Gillette Champions is all about. Men, women and children here in North America look up to athletes who raise their level of play and bring the game to a new level, who set the standard in sports and style."
Now even more incentive to shave!

Looks like I won't be purchasing any Proctor and Gamble products anymore. Couldn't they think of a more talented NEW ENGLAND/BOSTON athlete to represent there products seeing as how that's where there headquarters is located.

Kathleen, I kind of feel your pain. It's all about Jeter, mr overrated, won 4 championships eons ago. but it all boils down to this.....he's marketable, he's a face that sells. i'm a yankee fan and all, but off the top of my head, i can't think of one, cute, sort of pretty boy types, up in that neck of the woods.
