Lisa Leslie: "This Will Be My Last Olympics"

Lisa Leslie has been the backbone of the WNBA since it was launched way back in 1997 and has been down with the U.S. Women's Olympic Basketball team since 1996. She already has three gold medals (1996, 2000, and 2004), and is looking towards her fourth next month, in what she says will be her last Olympic appearance.

"When people asked me before, I said I never know," she told the L.A. Times. "But I see it, for the first time in my career, that yeah, there's an afterlife, so to speak. So, yes, this will be my last Olympics, that's official."That makes this last trip a bit more meaningful, one more time to get that Olympic gold. Leslie is nearing the end of her basketball career, at age 36, and with a one year old daughter, she's determined to finish her Olympic career undefeated.

"I see it," she said. "I truly believe we have the best team in the world, the best players in the world, and I believe that we can perform at our best for eight straight games and get it done. To have a fourth gold medal -- why not? That's my motto. Why not me? Somebody's got to win the gold. Why not me?"
