You can pretty much take this as an endorsement. According to the L.A. Times, LeBron James threw down a cool $20,000 to a committee devoted to electing Barack Obama president. It's an interesting move for James considering he usually doesn't like to talk politics and tries to shy away from controversial subjects until he's forced to respond. When Michael Jordan was playing ball, he stayed away from endorsing anyone, saying the now infamous quote, "Republicans buy sneakers too," when asked to donate money Harvey Gantt's senate campaign in the 1990's. But it looks like we know where LeBron is leaning.

LaBron James has every right to donates "HIS MONEY" to any candidate running for office that he so desire. After all when Lebron and his mother was struggling to get ends to meet, like "MOST" middle class and low income Americans, due mainly because of policies issued by a Republican White House and Congress that suffocated the life out of working class American, I am sure LeBron remembers what thos days were like, prior to reaching stardom and wealth. I applause the young man. And as far as the media is concern, go report on Senator Stevens a Republican, who is caught up in another political scandal or McCain who accuses Obama of being responsible for gasoline prices, because he is not in favor of offshore oil drilling. Awake Americans, who is more likely to benefits from high gas prices, Obama who has no tires to the Oil Industry or Bush and Chaney two lamed duck oil men running this country and the White House, who is subjected to made billions on what "YOU" pay at the pump. That the story the media needs to cover.

Mz.Chea,
I'm afraid you fail to realize that his contribution to a national committee is nearly at the limit allowable by an individual. Is it worth it to Mr. James or the Obama camp to make monetary moves that would blur the lines of ethics or draw further criticism? I think not.
I only hope that you will follow suit and put your money where your mouth is, no matter how small the contribution or your politial affiliation.

It is more about LeBron contributing to the campaign moreso than the amount he contributed. No one had problems with the money that David Geffen paid to the Clintons before he endosed Obama, again with a contribution. It is a bold ststement that a public figure in atletics takes a political and financial stand in this election. It simply means that LeBron and other public figures are not apathetic about politics.

I applaud LeBron for having a social conscience and to take a stand on real issues, not just on basketball!! I hoped Jordan would have used his influence for the greater good, but his aim was to sell those high priced sneakers and every one else be damnned!
