The New England Patriots may be struggling this season without their star QB, Tom Brady, but off the field, defensive end Jarvis Green is seeing success. He recently hosted a mini-golf tournament that benefited the Jarvis Green Foundation which helps single mothers in New Orleans and victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Now the hard hitting lineman is touting his new restaurant, The Capitol Restaurant. We recently caught up with Green to talk about his new venture and other things he has going on off the field.
The restaurant is in Donaldsonville, La. Why did you choose that location instead of Baton Rouge or New Orleans?
I chose Donaldsonville because it's my hometown... that's the reason why. If I was going to give back it had to be my hometown. I'm giving 30-plus jobs to the community and making it a place where people can come eat, laugh and have a great time.

Why did you name the restaurant The Capitol Restaurant?
I named my place the Capitol because I was looking for a very interesting name that would shine on the town of Donaldsonville. I think a lot of people assumed that me being an athlete that I would name it something like "1st and 10" or Jarvis' Place, but no. I named it the Capitol because back in 1830 my town was the first state Capitol of Louisiana.
What sets the restaurant apart from other restaurants in town?
The difference between my place and other franchises is that when you walk in, you will know that you are home. My place is what I feel and what I have seen and tasted. If you knew me you would understand. It's something that only my town can judge.
What kind of food will it specialize in?
We don't really specialize in anything, but we do offer a huge selection of appetizers, build-you-own burger, seven different wing sauces, shrimp, catfish, oysters, and po-boys. We have different types of salads and soups and a huge selection of desserts.

Any other ventures you're doing outside of football?
I have some other things I would love to do in the near future. Hopefully business stays in front of us and I can franchise the Capitol in some areas of Baton Rouge. I also own a liquor store named Green's Purple and Gold near the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. But the future is bright and my hand is on the light switch. Everyday means something to someone. So remember that everyone!

When the republicans say that they hate big government it's because they don't want the states to have their decisions contested by the federal government. Whenever Blacks fought for anything it would be from the support of the federal gov'ts help that they would win because the states were ran by the people doing the dirt so republicans hate "BIG GOVERNMENT" or oversight. When schools were first integrated the Black students had to be protected by federal troops because state cops were in on the BullSht. That is the hate for BIG GOVERNMENT by republicans. When you hear conservatives say “BIG SPENDING” democrats or liberals they hate social programs that are paid for by the government (programs for parolees Day care) needed to fix all they done to us. There are a few celebs with these views and yahoo and a site called "The Daily Standard listed them. These are people we support but have views that affect us in a bad way. Here are those celebs being listed because when they have $2300 to donate to republicans to when the White House and push agendas that hurt us it's like we are paying to hurt ourselves when we watch there shows on TV or in the movies and buy their music. I personally won't be doing that for any of them you can choose for yourself.

I wouldn't open up any business in racist Louisiana. He will be closed within a year due to lack of support.

Mac, why the negative comment? Racism is a fact of life everywhere. And by saying "he will be closed within a year" is a sign of your hatred and jealousy. You are pronouncing a 'curse' on this man and in the name of Jesus, may his business be successful. I'm not in agreement with the liquor store venture, but folks gotta eat!

It is very sad that Black's pay their hard earned dollars to view these type of people, I do not attend movie shows and only watch Black Movies, because all of the above listed people make me sick to see them.
