The last game Barry Bonds played was as a San Francisco Giant on September 26, 2007. That year he captured the record for the most home runs at 762. He was a free agent after that season but no Major League Baseball wanted him on their squad. It's reasonable that a team wouldn't want a player who is facing federal charges on lying under oath stemming from when he testified in court to never knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs during the grand jury investigation of BALCO.But according to the San Francisco Chronicle, the 44-year old slugger recently had hip surgery with hopes of coming back next season. His hip won't be fully healed before spring training, but could be good to go for opening day - if any team really wants him. He recently told TMZ.com that he still wants to play though, but really didn't give up his plans.
"I'm not retiring," Bond told the cameraman. "No, not at all. I'm not retiring."
If Bonds does come back next season there will be a nice stack of records he'll probably try to set or beat. According to the Chronicle, Bonds needs 38 home runs to reach 800, 65 hits to reach 3,000 and four RBIs to reach 2,000. He's 69 runs scored from breaking Rickey Henderson's record and 38 extra-base hits from breaking Hank Aaron's. Would you root for him to make history once again?

He hasn't broken any records yet. He has cheated his way through the game.

Yes, I hope and pray that Barry Bonds will come back, smash more homeruns, and break more records.
He will always be my HERO! Too many of our African American men have been castigated by the race-baiting media. What happened to our age-old belief that one is innocent until proven guilty by the courts? It's time that we as a people stand up for our great men like him. Last year baseball was soooo boring without him. I've written a wonderful song about him, and I look forward to his return to baseball.
GOD bless you, Barry!
Best wishes for a great New Year!

I strongly feel that any athlete who has used any form of substance to enhance his performance should not be in the hall of fame and any data earned should be null and void. And that includes any race, ethnic group and even you Barry Bonds.

I think that he is a disgrace to the game and should not be rewarded in any way for breaking any of the records. That should go to someone who really deserves that honor. As for him coming back to play more baseball he should retire from the game forever and not named in the hall of fame ever. He never earned that honor in my opinion.

What really ought to happen is some of these so called fans should be locked up for stupidity. Hey you get paid to play, and the trainers will almost do anything to get you on the field in the past; but now that every body is watching it's all on the players. Leave Barry the heck alone, and let him play!

it would be nice for him to go to the yankees or the redsox, most famous teams out there for him to break those records.
