When Kimbo Slice was defeated on prime-time television last fall that also signaled the end for the EliteXC mixed martial arts (mma) fighting league. That left Kimbo's career up in the air, but now there may be a chance for him to get back in the ring and back on television. According to a report in USA Today, Strikeforce, another mma league, is buying up all of the EliteXC assets from its parent company, ProElite. Strikeforce, which has a deal with both NBC and Showtime, is also looking to snag the league's two most popular fighters, Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano."We're going to continue supporting women's mma and we're going to be inviting Gina to come fight on April 11," Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told USA Today. "And we've already got confirmation from Cris "Cyborg" Santos that she is available if we can put that match together. We will be supporting women's MMA in Strikeforce."
In regards to Kimbo, Showtime senior VP Ken Hershman said he "is one that we think we have a future with."
When Kimbo does show up, it'll be with a new trainer. His former trainer, Bas Rutten, announced that the two men will no longer be working with each other.
"I stopped training Kimbo," Rutten told AOL's Fanhouse. "I had him six weeks before the last fight (a loss to Seth Petruzelli on Oct. 4). I talked to him about certain things that I didn't like, and he promised never to do it again, and then he started doing it again. If people come to me and ask me to train them, I want them to do what I tell them to do, because that's what they came for. ... Once you start doing different things, you're out. It's not because he got knocked out. This was already in progress long before the fight."

How can he be trusted after his last fight its clear he took a dive .How can u trust that noing he will cheat.

Listen as a former Prison Boxing Champion and as a avid student of Boxing. I smell a Rat. Kimbo took a "Dive" to try to save that league from going Bankrupt. "THe Great White Hope", at the Box office, is allways more Bankable then the Black "Thug"(example) the Ficticious "Rocky Movies" with the Black Man cast as villian!.

Brilliant theory!! Let's take an already super popular internet legend and cash cow like Kimbo (who has many white fans by the way) and have him lose to an unknown white guy due to the disparity in skin color. Even though we elected a Barack Obama, there's still no end to the whole "white hates black" rhetoric. Have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that in 2009, no race is more tolerant and accepting of black folks than white folks? Who is more likely to date and/or marry a black person between whites, latinos, asians, and middle easterns? Who is more likely to befriend a black person between whites, latinos, asians, and middle easterns? Who is more likely to employ a black person between whites, latinos, asians, and middle easterns? That's right...the blue eyed devil.

Wayne Bell, just to clear things up, in the Rocky movies there was only one black "villain" Rocky faced and that was Mr. T. Rocky faced more white villains then black. Apollo was never his "villain". Apollo give Rocky the first shot at his title, after the first fight Apollo respected Rocky and they were friends for the rest of the series. Also, the highest grossing Rocky movie is 4 when he faced the white Russian. And yes, this country wants a "great white hype" not a "superthug" but the Rocky series is a bad example for your comment, lol. If anything Rocky made Carl Weathers a star and he has been famous ever since. But I get where you going with your comments!

I have heard a lot about Kimbo Slice but I have never had the opportunity to see him fight. My partna always talks about like he's Mike Tyson or something but reading these other comments makes me believe he may have sold himself out. I guess time will tell b/c stuff like this always comes to light in the end.

One last thing, you mention that white people are "always more bankable" ---I guess Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali and Evander Holyfield (three of the biggest draws in boxing history) were white, correct?
