Former MLB center fielder Lenny Dykstra retired from the game back in 1998, but this week he's making news for what a former employee is saying about him. A year ago, Dykstra launched a magazine called the Player's Club, which targets professional athletes and can usually be found in locker rooms and on chartered planes. But now, some are dumping the mag because of a tell-all piece by Kevin Coughlin in GQ detailing what it was like working for Dykstra."At one meeting, Lenny goes off on how a particular layout looks 'faggy,' despite the presence of a gay page designer in the room. (Later, Lenny says to me: 'Did you see the look on that fag's face?')," Coughlin wrote in the piece. "On another occasion, I field a call from Lenny about potential cover subjects while I'm at home; Lenny's on speaker when he proudly states, 'For both my wife and me, that nobody can call me a racist --I put three darkies and a b*tch on my first four covers."
The first four Players Club covers featured Derek Jeter, Chris Paul, Tiger Woods and Danica Patrick.
"What was that, Lenny?" Coughlin asks.
"I said I put three spearchuckers on the cover!" Dykstra allegedly replies.

Coughlin's article caught the attention of some powerful people, including Arthur Triche, vice president of public relations for the Atlanta Hawks. He's looking to put Dykstra out of business.
"His magazine was (and I emphasize, WAS) a staple in our team's locker room whenever it was sent to us, but from now on, it will go right into the garbage dump, and as the Hawks' vice president of public relations and the first African American PR director in the NBA, I assure you none of my players will ever speak to anyone associated with this magazine," Triche wrote in an e-mail, according to Maynard Institute's Richard Prince. "And before it's all said and done, I will be speaking with Billy Hunter of the NBAPA [National Basketball Association Player's Association] and the new executive director of the NFLPA [NFL Players Association] regarding this. Maybe he'll get the message then."
Of course, Dykstra is denying all of the accusations, saying that Coughlin is just mad because he got fired.
"Everything in there is a lie," Dykstra told the NY Daily News. "I'm not going down in the dirt with this guy. He's [ticked] off because he got fired. He was masquerading as a photo editor. I lived with [Darryl] Strawberry and [Dwight] Gooden. I'm not reducing myself to this. What a crazy thing."

SO WHAT IF HE SAID THOSE THINGS, WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THE U.S.A. FOR NOW ANYWAY. BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE REAL RACISTS IN OUR COUNTRY. LET PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY WANT TILL THEY BREAK THE LAW. THE U.S. IS MADE UP OF ALL COLORS, THERE IS NO LAW THAT SAYS YOU HAVE TO LIKE EVERYONE. GET A LIFE.

Wait a minute. One guy accuses this guy and all of a sudden he is the second incarnation of Satan? If this were so widespread, why is only one person coming out with this accusation now? The guy got fired and now comes out with accusations? I don't buy it. If he were so racist, why would he feature women and minorities in his magazine? And after having been teammates with black players for most of his career, I find it hard to believe that he would be the idiot that this DISGRUNTLED EX-EMPLOYEE says he is. Especially since there is no substantiation other than some guy saying it. It is sad when someone can be basically destroyed at the mere mention of wrongdoing with NO CORROBORATION.

Yeah only one person came out about Roger Clements too and he was called a liar by everyone. It only takes one person to blow the whistle. Let the innocent stand in the facts of truth and if is true then this guy will be ruined and everyone else who rushed to judgement.

Having meet Lenny D. and talked to him a few times when he lived in the Devon, Pa. area when he played with the Phillies I must say my impressions of him are not that good. He appeared to have an ego bigger than the city of Philly and was extremely self-centered (my opinion only). But I do not believe he would be so blatantly racsist. He is NOT a stupid man and he knows he is in the public eye. I take all of this with a grain of salt.

The article doesn't say, but since it's posted on "Black Voices", I'm guessing Coughlin is black. He got fired, now if he's black, he's playing the race card. If he's white, he's trying to get his 15 minutes of fame and make some quick money. He's one of the two and more likely a jackass himself.

I read the entire story. The alleged racist remarks were just one instance of Dykstra's mindset. The story paints a picture of an individual, who simply can not be trusted. Everything from stiffing employees on their entire paychecks,to telling creditors to get in line. He is a con man and deserves to be in prison. Dykstra wants to live First Class, on someone else's tab. My prediction is that he will be murdered by someone or he will end up killing himself, but since he is such a gutless human being, chances are that he will just fade away, and die an early death. Don't believe anything he says, and by all means, if you see him coming, turn around and run, as fast as you can.
