Stephen A. Smith is known for his brash and sometimes insensitive comments about athletes and professional sports in general. He made a name for himself as a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, then as an ESPN analyst who landed his own show, 'Quite Frankly,' on ESPN2. Smith left the newspaper biz last year and now it looks like he'll be leaving ESPN next month. He confirmed that on May 1, he will no longer have a job with ESPN."It's been a wonderful, wonderful ride, filled with great accomplishments, great memories and, most importantly, great friendships," Smith said in a statement. "It's difficult to express how appreciative I am to ESPN for all it's done for my career. But nothing lasts forever. It's time to move on.
While my love for sports has never dissipated -- of course, I'll never let go of sports -- my desire to venture beyond sports into the world of news, politics and entertainment has grown. Where that will take me? Who knows! But I'm about to find out. I'll just do so with some degree of sadness, knowing all the friends I'll leave behind."
Smith has yet to announce what he'll do next, but we're sure we'll hear about it soon.

Stephen won't be unemployed for very long with his suave, debonair looks he'll end up starring in a movie with Beyounce Knowles playing her leading man (lol). After all he does have name recognition, for heaven sake,i'll hire him my-self if i had the dough.

ESPN has now lost one of it's most brightest stars, and I for one will miss him a lot.I admired his insights on all sports matters, and especially putting Skip Bayless in his place consistently.I wish stephen A. all the luck in the world on his new vocation(s).What I trully will miss is his honesty.I think some people get upset with Smith, because of his honesty on matters of race, which is really their insecurities on that issue. Some folks can't handle the truth,or don't want to,because they are actually racist themselves.I actually have more of a problem with Rob Parker and Gemelle who are very insecure about this hot button issue.Anyway,good-luck Stephen A.,an admirer, and a white brother.

Some of these comments are out of jealous and ignorance, and simply hilarious. It so interesting how Black men are easily marginalized and given the title of prejudice when they are able to articulate and speak the vernacular of the pervasive culture. Stephen A. Smith is an excellent example of charisma, knowledge, versatility and endurance. I am positive he will find the perfect match for his skill set--grace and peace to you brother.
