Earlier this year Dungy announced that he would be spending a lot of his time hanging out in prisons hoping to help men change the course of their lives. Well, this week Dungy visited one of the most talked about prisoners in Leavenworth, Kansas – Michael Vick.
"I can confirm that Michael met with coach Dungy," Vick's agent, Joel Segal, told ESPN's John Clayton. "The discussions were private, but the meeting was very positive."
Although the talks were private, Dungy did tell Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick that he would be meeting with Vick.
"I am going out there to really talk about life," Dungy said. "To talk about the Lord. I know he has made a profession that he has accepted the Lord into his life. Talk to him about what he's going to face. Most people are going to be against him. He's got to understand that."
Vick is scheduled to leave prison on May 20 and finish his time at home, which ends on July 20. Afterwards he will be on probation for three years. Vick's meeting with Dungy could help in the quarterback's return to the league since Dungy has the respect of the NFL and would hear him out on Vick's behalf.

I think that Michael Vick should NEVER be allowed to play football in the NFL again. In fact, I think he should have to spend the rest of his miserable life in a 3x3 ft cage, occasionaly being let out to fight someone.

I hope you are also totally opposed and opinionated about all crimes commited by humans, against other humans. The same people that were up in arms about seeing Mike behind bars for crimes against animals, should be the first to speak out againts crimes twords other people.

Hey Ellen,
Leave the man alone, he should be allowed to live his life. Now for all the concerned animal lovers I have a new project for you. If there is so much concern about rehabilitating Mr. Vick, whose going to rehabilitate the rich and famous that attend the horse races. They get all dressed up, make their bets and watch jockeys beat the crap out of the horses in the name of sports (on national TV mind you). Now I don't know about you but if I were a horse I would see this as abuse. Just because he staged a dog fight society wants to cut the man off from world. Well if they want to be appalled and ashamed, be ashamed of the folk that attend the horse races, or is this more acceptable because it is a sport for the rich and famous. Not to mention the fact that the horses are sent over seas to be eaten in third world countries or used to make glue...look it up.

I am glad that you are not the decision maker. As a christian, you should learn to forgive. If we are truly in a society that teaches once we have served our sentence we SHOULD No LONGER be condenmed, then we should move on from this. The bible says "he that is without sin cast the first stone". Can you truly say that you are without sin, and you can STAND and JUDGE this man. Take away his livelihood. You speak of the many issues that we have faced, issues amongst the human race, but, we forgive those who have harmed and sin against us. We should embrace and help our human race and teach them right from wrong.

I THINK IF HE WAS NOT MR VICK HE WOULD HAVE NEVER DID THIS MUCH TIME OR THIS MUCH OF A BIG DEAL WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE OUT OF IT. FUTHERMORE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING NOT JUST DOGS BUT ANIMALS AGAINST EACH OTHER FOR YEARS. I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THIS MAKES IT CORRECT. POINT BLANK TIME SERVED. I PRAY THEY LET HIM BACK INTO THE NFL AFTERALL HE IS BETTER THAN A LOT OF CURRENT QB AND HE HAS NOT PLAYED N OVER 2YRS.

Mr. Vick did his crime, did is time, and when he is released he will have a ball and chain around his ankle like most african american men; hanging from the teeth of the beast. Mr. Vick is fortunate enough to know people in higher places, which will help him transition back into "society" but the average AA man would be a convicted felon who can not get a decent job, therefore, turning back to the life that landed him in jail in the first place; its called being "stuck behind the eight ball".
