Kimbo Slice Joins 'Ultimate Fighter'

Not too long ago, Kimbo Slice was on the verge of leaving the mixed martial arts (MMA) scene and joining the ranks of professional boxing. But now, Slice is changing course and heading back to MMA as a cast member of the Spike TV reality show 'Ultimate Fighter,' which is organized by top MMA league, UFC. Last year, UFC President Dana White dissed Slice but offered him a spot on the show.

"Other than get 10 million hits on YouTube, what's he done to deserve to be in the UFC? Nothing," White told USA Today in October. "I don't consider him a real athlete. He won't win 'Ultimate Fighter.' The offer is out there if he wants to take it, but he won't win it."

Looks like Slice is holding White at his word. Taping began this week, and the show will air in September. Slice will be competing for a contract with UFC against 16 other heavyweights who will live together, train together and fight each other. The coaches for the fighters this season will be UFC vets Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans.

"It should be interesting, given some of the things I've said about him," White told Yahoo! Sports columnist Kevin Iole.
