First it was tennis, then fashion, followed by acting and now Serena Williams wants to break into writing for television. Williams in currently in the throes of competition at the Wimbledon Tournament in England but let the Associated Press know that she's writing a TV pilot inspired by her favorite shows "Desperate Housewives," "Family Guy," and "Sex and the City.""You'll be excited to know I wrote three parts already," she told the Associated Press' Steven Wine. "I was going to do it (Tuesday), but I started watching `Dexter' and I got a little sidetracked. You know what, today's a good day. I can write. For me it's really about being in the mood, and how I'm feeling."
Serena said her sister got her a screenwriting book which inspired her to give the writing thing a shot; although she strictly wants to stick with television right now instead of film.
"I don't know how good I would be at writing a movie," Williams said. "But I just love to write."

You know we really ought to focus on the subject of Serena Williams. i realise that tennis has become a sport where the pressure to perform @ a high level devalues their quality time outside the lines. we haven't improved our perceptions of Black America no matter if the assertions of some of these commentators is right or wrong. let serena williams try writing for tv. let's try to support her too as a human being. if she fails, let's not put her as the scapegoat for those who cannot transcend sports. i really think we should be open bout our prejudices in a constructive manner. we should communicate properly instead of hurling insults back and forth. i blame both sides of this issue. serena when she focuses on tennis is an above average athlete. i don't know about her fashion sense though. it's not an insult just an observation. i used to write screenplays myself for films. it's not for everyone. if serena is genuinely unhappy with tennis, let her reconsider her career options. let's not bash her because she is educated now. anyhow, that's just me. you can return to your daily work schedule now.

Thank you for the comment! I feel like Serena can write anything she wants to, she may have to seek help and she might fail the first time, but if she wants to write she will work at it in the ways that is require.

I just hope she's a talented writer. Which I already doubt seeing as how she's spent more time playing tennis than writing.

I really wish Serena Williams would stop acting like the stereotypical American. I mean, the rest of the world doesn't take us seriously as it is, especially when it comes to tennis, and she doesn't help with her arrogance ("quite frankly, I'm the best in the world"). If she could live up to her claims of being so great, I would still despise just watching her play (seemingly the only time she isn't talking about herself ot talking shit on her opponents) because she's too damned cocky. No one takes American tennis players seriously because of people like her. She doesn't use her fame to better anything, just to promote her own endeavors which are cliche. 'I wanna be a movie star and a fashion designer and a tennis player and a I wanna write and'....sounds like a 10 year old whose interests change every 5 seconds. She is definitely a very good tennis player, but her attitude insults the good sport of tennis.

Why did a nice little story about Serena cause all the idiots to come out of the woodwork. I promise you that none of them are tennis fans or players on any level. Disgusting to say the least. Serena has entertained Tennis fans for a long time now, and I hope for a long time to come
