Michael Vick met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week and was given a conditional reinstatement to play once again. Goodell said this week that if a team signs Vick he can participate in training camps, practices, meetings, workouts, and the final two preseason games. Once the season begins, Vick can continue to participate in all team activities except for the games. Goodell will consider full reinstatement by Week 6 of the NFL season.
Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy has agreed to be part of the team that will help and mentor Vick get on the right path. He shared his thoughts on Vick on his personal blog and spoke about keep in constant contact with him.
"I believe in second chances for people who admit their mistakes and are committed to changing." Dungy wrote on his blog. "I think Michael deserves the chance to show people he has changed and learned from past mistakes, but my true hope is that he will make sound decisions about his future and, at the same time, let people know more about the person that I've come to know recently. I know the public will be skeptical, but I think, over time, people will find there's a different side to him than what they've seen so far. And that's really my goal, to help him let people see the other side of Michael Vick."
Dungy said his role is solely to assist Michael Vick with advice, direction and support during the evaluation process over the next several months.

I could think of no one better to be Michael Vick's menton. Tony Dungy is known for his laid back personality, he is one that has nothing to gain from Michael's succeeding again in his craft.
Tony's professionalism will probably rub off as well.
I wish Mike the best! Glad to see him reinstated.

He will need to be monitored at all times, and Dungy is the right person for the job.

Love and respect Brotha Tony Dungy. This is a brotha I would follow anywhere. He is proven that you can remain true to being Black and be successful. Michael Vick had some punk-ass friends. I still feel he didn't do anything to warrant a jail sentence by allowing those dogs to do what they were bred for in good ole europe. It was a cultural thing, Blacks don't have the same affinity whites do for dogs in general. The history of the dog among Blacks has long been a symbol of oppression from slavery to the civil rights movement. Right on Brotha Tony and the hell with elevating a dog to such importance.

I have alot of respect for Tony Dungy. He is an awesome Christian guy who puts his faith in God above everything else. If a guy like Tony is gonna vouch for Mike I think we need to listen. If Mike has really changed and come back to faith in God, he could be a really positive influence not only in the league but in the community. I guess I would just like to see him prove his critics wrong.
