They might spend most of their time on the tennis courts, but Venus and Serena Williams are avid football fans. So much so that they purchased a small ownership in the Miami Dolphins. The deal, which was announced this week, makes Venus and Serena the first female African Americans to have an ownership stake in an NFL team."I am so excited to be part of such a renowned organization," Serena said. "Having spent so much of my childhood in the area, being involved with a staple of Miami culture is a huge honor. We look forward to many championships and much success together with the Miami Dolphins."
"I am honored to be a partner in the Miami Dolphins franchise and thankful to owner Stephen Ross for allowing Serena and I to be part of Miami Dolphins history," Venus added.
In the meantime, the sisters are preparing to play in the U.S. Open next week. Although seeding has yet to be announced, Serena is ranked second (despite recently winning Wimbledon), behind Dinara Safina. Venus, who lost to Serena in the Wimbledon finals, is ranked third.

Congrats, ladies! It's always nice to see African-Americans making their money work for them.
