LA Sparks' forward Candace Parker is in the middle of the WNBA season and is balancing life between being a pro athlete and motherhood. But in all of the demands of her life at the moment, she found time to share some of her workout regime with her fans. Although she says that most of her cardio is done during games and practice, Parker connected with the Adidas website to give specifics on her daily routine."Off the court my workout regimen at the moment consists of a few key exercises," Parker wrote. "For my core I like the bridge and the plate crunch to strengthen my abs. When it comes to my legs, I go with squats and lunges to keep me loose while building strength in my hips. The drop lunge helps me maintain my flexibility. For my upper body, I stay classic with the bench. Focusing my workouts keeps me feeling balanced and light during the season."
She does the workouts three days a week between practices along with practicing free throws, 3-pointers, mid-range shots, and a variety of dribbling drills. She also shared her summertime eating habit which consists of a lot of time in the backyard.
"I'm all about grilling in the summer, how can you not be? It's BBQ season! But, I'm definitely conscious of what I eat, especially during the season, so I like to stay close to the produce and deli sections at the grocery store," Parker said. "Focusing on whole foods keeps me energized throughout the season. I'm big on carbs to keep my energy up, so I eat a lot of pasta, fruits and breads (I love bread!). I really like veggies, also. Right now I'm big on grilling peppers, zucchini and fish."
