Pacman Jones Gives Up on NFL, Gets Dissed by CFL

Earlier this year, the Dallas Cowboys released former first-round pick Adam "Pacman" Jones due to his continued off-the-field antics and his poor contribution to the team.

But this week, word from the Canadian Football League was that Pacman was trying to get a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Pacman was hoping that the work he'd put up in Canada would help him get back in the NFL's good graces.

While Jones lost close to $1.6 million during his 2007 suspension, he was still making six figures in Dallas. What would his salary be in Canada? Around $60,000.

Doesn't matter though. The Bombers weren't feeling him at all.

"It is unfortunate that this situation became public; however, our position has remained consistent," Blue Bombers coach Mike Kelly said in a statement. "We will pursue athletes that we believe will contribute to our organization on and off the field.

"We have completed our assessment and due diligence and, at this time, we will not be pursuing the services of Adam Jones."

Ouch.

Jones did draw interest from the United Football League, which starts its season in October.

The CFL season began in June, with the Grey Cup Championship being held in November. Other troubled NFL stars who played in the CFL while trying to jump-start their careers include Ricky Williams, Andre Rison and Lawrence Phillips. Do you think Pacman will ever return to the NFL?
