In July, former Tennessee Titan quarterback Steve McNair was murdered by his 20-year-old mistress Sahel Kazemi. It was a sad incident that sent shock waves through the sports world and again brought to light the infidelity of professional athletes. But apparently some folks weren't taking the matter too seriously. According to AOL's Fanhouse, King's Island Amusement Park in Ohio was planning to display skeletons depicting McNair and Kazemi as part of the Halloween exhibit. In the display, the McNair skeleton adorns a Titans jersey while sitting on a couch holding a helmet. That was the same position he was in when authorities found his body. The Kazemi skeleton is sporting a red nightie and lies on McNair's lap. A gun was also placed at their feet.
Pictures and video of the display spread across the Internet, and the response was not good.
"I don't think the city is going to take it well at all," George Plaster, a sports radio host in Nashville, told Fanhouse. "This is a city that prides itself on having some taste and values, and I just can't see anything about what they're doing that has any good taste at all. I was shocked and totally appalled, and I think most people in Nashville are as well."
When Fanhouse contacted King's Island for comment, the amusement park responded by saying that the display would not appear in the Halloween exhibit. The exhibit opened over the weekend and featured skeletons depicting Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Farrah Fawcett and other celebrities.
