Michael Vick is out of jail, back in an NFL uniform and trying to rebuild his image. He's having a hard time though because Americans really love their dogs and hate people who abuse them. But in an effort to show people that he's a changed man, Vick will be launching a new reality show on BET in January. It's called 'The Michael Vick Project,' and the show will attempt to focus on his re-assimilation into his NFL life, while looking at his past troubles and how he's rectifying them today.
"I just want people to really get to know me as an individual," Vick told the L.A. Times. "I am a human being. I've made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it's not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up.
This show can be a blueprint for so many kids," he said. "I want to show them that things are going to happen, that they're not going to get through life without dealing with some kind of adversity. I want to show that if they have a fall from grace, this is how they can turn it around. We want this to be a story of hope."
The folks at PETA aren't buying it, though. They still feel that Vick isn't truly remorseful, and that everything he's done up to this day isn't enough to be forgiven.
"People who abuse animals don't deserve to be rewarded," said PETA spokesman Dan Shannon. "They shouldn't be given multimillion-dollar contracts . . . or given the privilege of being a role model. We don't believe Michael Vick understands the seriousness of his crime. I think he's sorry he got caught, but only time will tell if he's truly remorseful."
Regardless, the Philadelphia Eagles, Vick's mentor Tony Dungy and BET have the embattled NFL star's back and hope that fans will have a better understanding of how he has grown.

Micheal Vick should not have to beg you "the public" for a second chance. Him playing football is a job and a career. His skills earned him a spot on the team. His personal life is just that, his personal life. I am so tired of black icons apologizing profusely seeking validation from an arena or group of folks that didn't accept them in the first place. He served his time and that enough.

I think Mike Vick has served his sentence and like any other human being, people deserve a second chance. Can you please, please give me one person (except for Jesus Christ)that did not need a second chance or forgiveness for something. Please name one!

Every one deserves a second chance, but I don't feel that MV is truly remorseful. He's just cashing in on his failing as human being. I have no love for the dude. I cannot get the images of those poor beaten animals out of my head.

I don't feel that people who prey on the innocent(animals and children) should get second chances. Child molesters are labled for the rest of their lives and no one wants them in their communities. I feel the same for people who abuse animals. What Vick was a part of went waaaaaaaay past abuse. Those who want him to have a second shot need to do a little research because you truly don't understand the debth of cruelty here. This man is without morals. Mike Vick only cares about Mike Vick.

All i have 2 say is i love dog's & i have a little one my self,everyday around the country the humane society kill dogs all the time & everybody (most) accept's it. how many vet's go 2 jail or trial 4 it ???? he did what he did & it was not good!!!! I see it in his face when he speaks that he is really sorry.Michael can't please everyone not that he should but life goes on.He did the time he was given an now it is time 4 outsider's to move on up out'a his bizziness!!! like i said go F#*! wit the humane society & those puppy mill people like they do MICHAEL & see what happen's that's all i'am say'n....

bigdogg you obviously don't know anything about animal rights and what goes on. They are fighting real hard to shut puppy mills down. The humane society euthanizes animals because there injured or there just arent any homes for them because azzhole get them then don't have them spayed or neutered and they reproduce making far too many unwanted pups. Or they get them because they are so cute then decide they don't want them and they dispose of them like trash. Vets do it at the wishes of the owners. You were very stupid to compare Vick the Dicck to the humane society. LOL BIG difference!
