Charles Barkley has been the biggest mouthpiece on TNT's Inside the NBA program for the last eight years, but it appears he's itching to get back with an NBA team. Don't get it twisted, he's not trying to put on a uniform and head to the court, but he'd like to don a suit heading the front office. In an interview with the Boston Globe, Barkley revealed that he may be ready to move on to a bigger challenge: being a general manager of an NBA team.Barkley told the Boston Globe:
It's time for me to be a general manager. I think everybody around me knows it's time for me to take a different challenge. I always want to keep going as a person. I love my job. I love the people I work with, but now it's time for me to take on another challenge as a man. I need to grow as a person, and it's time for me. And certainly I can do a better job than some of these guys have been doing.'
Some of those other Hall of Fame guys include Michael Jordan and Elgin Baylor, who haven't done too well in the management position. Barkley feels that he could succeed if he was put in a good position with a team ready to go to the next level, but he isn't going to take just any offer:
If a good opportunity came up, I would take it. I think people sometimes get confused with taking a job and taking a bad job. Every job is not a good job, but I think if a good job came up, I would take it. But I am not going to leave TNT for no bad job. [Teams] are taking a chance on guys worse than me. First of all, I think my résumé is better than some of the other guys who have gotten jobs running NBA teams. I want my chance to fail, just like everybody else.

I think Charles Barkley would be an excellent GM. He is very knowledgeable about the game, does a good job scouting player's talents and is bold enough to knock out the kinks of a team. I agree with Charles "give him his chance to fail". Go Charles. I must say that I have always loved Charles since his rookie year in the league with Philadelphia.
