San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson has had a pretty tough season on the field so far. NFL pundits have been saying that LT is washed up and that his career is nearing its end.

In the game against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend, though, Tomlinson ran for 96 yards, surpassing Thurman Thomas and Franco Harris for 12th place on the NFL's all-time rushing list, with 12,145 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 146 for his career, which surpasses Marcus Allen for third place on the all-time list.

So what was the motivator? According to AOL Fanhouse, LT received a special gift from his wife, LaTorsha, moments before taking the field.

Tomlinson found it in front of his locker at Qualcomm Stadium, a decorative purple bag -- "TCU colors," he explained later -- tied with a bow. The attached note implored, "Please Open Immediately - LaTorsha." Inside was a box, and it contained a pregnancy test. A positive test.

"My wife is pregnant," Tomlinson said. "It was weird. I thought it was going to be a necklace or something. But it was a pregnancy test in there. It was pretty special. Years ago, we lost a child, so we've been trying again. God works in mysterious ways, and it's a blessing we're pregnant again."

Back in 2005, LT and his wife announced their pregnancy and were so excited for the coming baby that they had already named her. Due to pregnancy complications, however, the couple lost the baby. So the good news before the game appeared to have inspired LT's play over the weekend, and he called his wife the moment he stepped off the field.

"I said, 'You're amazing.'" His wife held back the news for five days. "I actually cried for about five minutes."
