Back in September, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested after MTV reality show star Tila Tequila signed a citizen's arrest warrant accusing the NFLer of assault and false imprisonment. Merriman denied all of the accusations, and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis decided not to charge him. That doesn't mean Tequila is going away. According to the Associated Press, Tequila's attorney, Cyrus Nownejad, announced that the reality TV star is filing a $1.5 million lawsuit against Merriman, claiming assault, false imprisonment, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The suit claims that Merriman grabbed Tequila by the arm when she tried to leave and shook her like a rag doll when she tried to break free. The suit also claims that Merriman threw Tequila on a couch, injuring her neck, jaw and back, then choked her until she almost passed out. Tequila said in the suit that Merriman had a short temper, was using drugs and humiliated her because of her bisexuality. She also included photos of herself, which supposedly show bruises on her neck and arms, in the suit.
When the Associated Press contacted Merriman, he said hadn't seen the suit, but he'll most likely stand by his previous comments about the incident. We're sure this won't be the last time we hear about this.
