Ron Artest Hennessy

NBA star Ron Artest must get bored easily.

When things seemed to be settling down from his trade to the Los Angeles Lakers during this off-season, the controversial St. John's University graduate couldn't help but shake things up.

Artest told a reporter that he drank during the halftimes of NBA games, when he played for the Chicago Bulls from 1999–2002.

His beverage of choice: Hennessy cognac.

"I used to drink Hennessy at halftime," Artest told the Sporting News. "I (kept it) in my locker. I'd just walk to the liquor store and get it."

With his checkered past, marked by suspensions for brawling and criticizing officials, the disclosure of drinking during games is believable. What makes no sense at all is why Artest would tell on himself.

Despite the talent and effort he brings to the court, Artest's comment continues his pattern of giving no thought nor consideration to his teammates.

Maybe Artest thought the disclosure was funny. We will see if he still sees the joke when NBA Commissioner David Stern hits Artest with yet another suspension later this season.
