An ex-girlfriend of former NBA star World B. Free was slain yesterday in front of her family's home in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn.
The victim, Audrey Johnson, 51, was visiting relatives in the neighborhood where she grew up when she heard a scuffle outside of the home. Her niece's boyfriend, Laquan Williams, 25, was being attacked by two men.
Johnson, attempting to intervene on Williams' behalf, was struck down by a bullet to the head when the perpetrators fired five bullets. Johnson's 14-year-old nephew, Daniel, was also shot in the leg and was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
According to police reports, the shots were not intentionally aimed at Johnson or her nephew; however, a police source at the scene said hat Johnson was indeed a marked target after she chose to step in and defend Williams, an ex-offender with quite a long rap sheet.
Brooklyn-native World B. Free, 55, whose birth name is Lloyd Bernard Free (he changed his name in 1980), had a 13-year NBA career. He played for numerous teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, where he currently works as a community relations representative.
Although previously published news articles named Johnson as World B. Free's ex-wife, the reports are inaccurate. According to a 76ers' press spokesperson, "Free did have a relationship with Johnson many years ago; however, they were never married and this was in the past. While they haven't spoken in quite a while, he does want to extend his condolences to her family and friends."

To "Whatever". Typical name. Fourteen year old girl, perhaps? lolz Anyway. You weren't blamed personally. Your race was. We don't "hold ourselves down". We're the driving force of our current progress! The reason why it was so slow-coming, is because we were being supressed by you whites! It's a known fact! You whites have some SERIOUS power issues. Either you don't have it, or you don't have enough of it!
The idea of equality, in ALL areas, is quite frightnening to the majority of you.
In regards to that idiot, who said something about me remaining a "victim". HA!!!! Never could that be more inaccurate. My level of awareness wouldn't allow it. I'm very knowledgable of my history. Only if there was a possiblity of it being repeated, would I be a "victim". Obiously, that's not an issue. So, victim who? smh lolz

Hey Ryan! Of course we whites have issues with black people in power. Look at Acrock Oblahblah...
What a joke! Take from the rich, give to the poor? Spread the wealth? Oh, I guess that's the black way. Forget about making it on your own. "Get yer fresh hot welfare"!
Do you think for one moment that if he wasn't black that he would have been elected Pres? THE ONLY REASON he's Pres is because the black people voted for a black man. Oblahblah WILL NOT be in office after 2011. Then we can get this country back on track. (Look at all the country's in Africa. What race is running those country's?)
