I knew it was going to happen. As I explained to Don Lemon last night on CNN (the clip is below if you'd like to see it), there is a strong risk of Tiger Woods becoming "OJ Simpsonized" by his recent scandal. He started off as Barack Obama, and with one exposure after another, he slides down the slope and ends up in no man's land.
Well, Glenn Beck fulfilled that prophecy on his show by comparing Tiger Woods to O.J. Simpson.
This scandal may get worse for Tiger before it gets better. I spoke with Rev. Al Sharpton this afternoon, a man whom I consider to be incredibly savvy when it comes to politics (notice that he was one of the few black public figures not to lose his power during the rise of Barack Obama). Rev. Sharpton made a very good point that Tiger Woods doesn't have a base of support, which is also going to hurt him during his media onslaught. When Sharpton and others spoke up in support of Woods after a golf announcer made a joke about "lynching him in a back alley," Tiger promptly waved off his supporters by acting as if they were in the wrong. As a result, no one is standing up for him now.
Tiger never asked for us to racialize him as a human being. He has been consistent in his disposition, and I don't expect him to suddenly run to black America to save him from this situation. That is part of what makes me respect Tiger, even though I am not in alignment with his politics. What is also true is that Tiger doesn't deserve to have his entire legacy tarnished over the mistakes he has made in his personal life. He is still the greatest golfer in the history of the world, a man who single-handedly dominated a sport that others swore could not be dominated. He carries the PGA on his back, and with that sort of domination comes a long list of enemies. As they say in China, "The fattest pig always gets slaughtered," and right now, Tiger Woods is a walking pork chop.
The biggest mistake that Team Tiger is making right now is taking the year off. I presume that this was Tiger's idea, because it is incredibly illogical. The last thing that Tiger should be doing is sitting on the sidelines and letting the world judge him by his marital infidelity. He needs to be on the golf course, sinking putts and winning majors. That is what will make the world forget about the past and make his sponsors start coming back. But then again, I am sure that right now, Tiger's life is more complicated than any of us can imagine. That is the part of me that prays for him.
It will be interesting to see how Tiger evolves during this struggle. Even O.J. Simpson had Johnnie Cochran. Tiger doesn't seem to have anyone. The CNN conversation I had with Don Lemon is below if you'd like to take a look. This is far from over.

Tiger reminds me of Hank Aaron in his day. He was the first black man who was in line to break Babe Ruth's record. The media was upset because he did not take the bait everytime they asked him about being the first black to break the record. They grew frustated with him and lashed into him when even they could.
Fastforward to 1996. The first African American to dominate in an all white sport that was restricted to blacks not to long before his birth. He has the chance to break the record held by one of the greastest Golfer. The media attacks his every word. Even tries to drag him into race baiting but he does not bite. The media is not happy with Tiger because he is not playing along with them.
Today the media is seeking revenge because Tiger did not take their bait when they tried to drag him to the Fuzzy Zoller incident. They then took him to task for not responding fast enough when they realize that Tiger was not going to give them a racial bone to chew on. They tried to do it again when they tried to brag him into another racial incident when Kelly, The Golf Channel Analyst, said that Tiger should be hung. The media took him to task again for taking the deplomatic road and not giving them what they want.
It now seems that IT"S the media who is getting back at Tiger for not giving them the cheap entertainment they wanted back then. That is why they are now tearing him apart over something, I'm sure they too are just as guilty of. This time they've found many willing participants; even if they had to pay them to say whatever they want them to say...Unlike Tiger. At the same time, they keeping the rage between the races going. On the white side they're tyring to relive the OJ days by reminding them that Tiger cheated on a white woman. On the black side of the fence, they are reminding us of why we should not come to Tiger's defense. For the past four weeks, the media cannot contain themselves...REVENGE AT LAST.
Is all this rage TRULY over an adulturious act or is this all to cover-up the real motive.

There has to be more important issues in America other than this worn out topic about Tiger Woods' infidelity. Real issues affecting our lives and that of our children, information needed in order for us to make 'informed' decisions about public-policy and other relevant matters. Tiger has done what millions of other American men and women do everyday, committed adultry, fornication and every other human deviation possible. Americans need to take a 'wake up pill' and get a life and stop 'pretending' they're so damn surprised about this type of behavior, with promiscuity in every facet of our lives trying to make Tiger Woods the new 'amoral' poster child to ease our own shortcomings won't solve our 'collective' problems.

You actually think white people do not care that Robert Blake got off for his crime? That's funny because every white person i know are totally disgusted and think it's a travesty that he wasn't put to death or in prison. I don't care what color a murderer is. If I'm sure he's guilty and walks, nothing could make me angrier than that. And I don't know any white person that feels differntly than me.
