Although Michael Vick hasn't been playing as much as he wants for the Philadelphia Eagles, his teammates sure think highly of him. Last week the team voted and awarded Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, an annual award given by each NFL team in memory of the former Baltimore Colts trainer. The award is usually given to a player who has overcome a major injury or some other insurmountable difficulty to contribute to the team. Of course, PETA is pissed."The Philadelphia Eagles fumbled when they gave Michael Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, which was named after a man who advocated in behalf of abused children," PETA said in a statement. "Michael Vick should not be the person anyone points to as a model of sportsmanship, even though he has now exchanged dogs for touchdowns after serving time for extreme cruelty to animals. We wish him well in educating others, but this is not appropriate and does not mark a joyous moment in NFL history."
Regardless of PETA's opinions, Vick has not only been a positive presence in the locker room, but he's also continuing to talk to kids about the mistakes he's made and the proper way to treat animals. And Vick's happy that his team has taken notice of his hard work.
"I've had to overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can bear," Vick told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Take a look at what I've been through. You ask certain people to walk in my shoes, they probably couldn't do it. Probably 95 percent of the people in this world - because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in, situations I've placed myself in, decisions that I've made - whether they were good or bad."

Mike Vick's statement says alot about him sounding like a victim talking about how 95% of people couldnt walk in his shoes and all he's been through like he recovered from cancer or something. doesnt sound like someone who's sorry about what he did but sorry he got caught. I never met a hamburger I didnt like and do not agree with peta but this time they may be right

Nobody can say that mick did something wrong, he paid a price for that wrong, to be honost if he knew what he would have to pay he might have stoped or ran from the situation but he couldnt hid or run, what we as on lookers dont see is all that took place with him what happen when the public couldnt see him, this situation change how he looks at life, have you ever lost something so deep and so dear, but you took it for granted anyway untile it was lost? the dog situation was wrong and there has to be someone speaking for the animals, but if one dog died so that other live, then this situation fits, Mick has shown that although you seem to not be able to forgive, we all need to be forgiven about something. Mick has gone down a road many of us could'nt even more he came out sweeter than when he went in, funny how life is !

PETA is going way overboard!!! I love animals but I love people too, and everyone deserves a second chance, Vick paid his debt to society.

Vick and his scumbag homeboys not only trained dogs to tear each other apart, they slaughtered dogs that could no longer fight by shooting them, cutting their throats, electrocuting them, and drowning them alive...all while sipping Cristal and laughing and laughing and laughing.
Michael Vick is subhuman scum, and ANYONE who supports him is just as much an ignorant savage as he is.
