Although Michael Vick hasn't been playing as much as he wants for the Philadelphia Eagles, his teammates sure think highly of him. Last week the team voted and awarded Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, an annual award given by each NFL team in memory of the former Baltimore Colts trainer. The award is usually given to a player who has overcome a major injury or some other insurmountable difficulty to contribute to the team. Of course, PETA is pissed."The Philadelphia Eagles fumbled when they gave Michael Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, which was named after a man who advocated in behalf of abused children," PETA said in a statement. "Michael Vick should not be the person anyone points to as a model of sportsmanship, even though he has now exchanged dogs for touchdowns after serving time for extreme cruelty to animals. We wish him well in educating others, but this is not appropriate and does not mark a joyous moment in NFL history."
Regardless of PETA's opinions, Vick has not only been a positive presence in the locker room, but he's also continuing to talk to kids about the mistakes he's made and the proper way to treat animals. And Vick's happy that his team has taken notice of his hard work.
"I've had to overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can bear," Vick told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Take a look at what I've been through. You ask certain people to walk in my shoes, they probably couldn't do it. Probably 95 percent of the people in this world - because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in, situations I've placed myself in, decisions that I've made - whether they were good or bad."

Congratulations to Michael Vick! He paid his dues, apologized and is getting on with his life. He has shown remorse and is becoming a better person. That's more than a lot of people within PETA can can say about themselves!

Giving Michael Vick an award, what a joke. Vick shouldn't even be playing football the only thing that he is sorry for is that he got caught. All these athletes making millions because of natural talent they were given. Then they squander it by doing something illegal and expect to be given a second chance. Would you and I be looked at the same way if we had a criminal record. I don't think so. These athletes shouldn't be given a second chance, then maybe future athletes would think long and hard about what they can lose if they commit a crime.

That piece of crap tortured, mutilated and god knows what else to those dogs. He is a sadistic piece of sh*t! First it's animals, next he will do the same to your children! Yeah, praise him you idiots!

This is a ridiculous article, just like suggesting that M. Vick is worthy of an award for courage after being caught RED-HANDED and STILL denying guilt. PETA may be overbearing sometimes, but here, I think they are dead on. Calling a man a coward who forces animals to tear each other to shreds for his own amusement and profit is not a misnomer. Calling him a hero because he got BUSTED doing it IS. It's not "HATING ON HIM" if it's true, and anyone who claims different have a seriously skewed set of values. He plays Football, though, so he's above reproach, right?

And this Quibian Salazar Moreno isn't writing a piece that's telling facts. He's reporting an opinion. His, obviously, is that a poor, downtrodden F-ball player who's wrongly convicted of harming a few worthless animals is worthy of high esteem. Keeping a stiff upper lip in the face of such meritless remarks as "animal abuser" etc., makes Michael Vick a brave soul worthy of acclaim. But for those fools who see it otherwise, Vick may have even walked on water to get to his next game. He even teaches children to leave them animals alone, at least don't video tape it, or you'll get arrested like hiim.

As a life long Baltimore resident and growing up being a Baltimore Colts fan all I can say is that it is a good thing that Ed Block is not around to see this. Vick getting this award is shameful and takes away from the integrity the award stands for. The "right thing" for Vick to do is to turn down the award.

Vick is an "A hole"! He should not be awarded anything. He should get what he gave to those dogs. You people who think otherwise, are in the same boat. Who could hurt a defenseless animal? The guy is a jerk with a capital JJJ!

For the Folks at PETA, I have not seen you go after the numerous hispanics in the United States who have done much worst than VICK. While I grew up on a farm respecting animals they are just that, animals. Some of your membership think that animals are humans. You save a dog so that a child straves. It is time to grow up. While we should respect the rights of animals, human beings by the laws of nature itself come first. Hence, your leadership which is intelligent enough to understand this has to have a poster child to take more money from the public. Forgiveness? No, you folks have none because all you want is more money, more money.

Just listening to this idiot speak:
"I've had to overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can bear. Take a look at what I've been through. You ask certain people to walk in my shoes, they probably couldn't do it. Probably 95 percent of the people in this world - because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in, situations I've placed myself in, decisions that I've made - whether they were good or bad."
No, Vick, no one's ever endured the kind of horrors you have encountered. You are SOOO special, like a superhero. There's Christ, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, and then you. Only, maybe 5% of the people could go through what things you have endured, but not even 1% could even manage to swallow the BS you're shoveling without some sort of agenda at heart.
You are ridiculous. If you have had to endure anything, it is entirely your own doing. We don't award badges of courage to criminal for enduring the punishment of their crimes. Anyone who idolizes this man is a fool.
