Barry Bonds' Agent Finally Admits Slugger's Career is Over

Barry BondsBarry Bonds hasn't played a baseball game since 2007, and according to his agent, Jeff Borris, Bonds will probably never play Major League Baseball again. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Borris admitted that Bonds career is pretty much over.

"It's two years since he played his last game, and if there was any chance he'd be back in a major league uniform, it would have happened by now," Borris told the San Francisco Chronicle. "When 2008 came around, I couldn't get him a job. When 2009 came around, I couldn't get him a job. Now, 2010 ... I'd say it's nearly impossible. It's an unfortunate ending to a storied career."

Bonds has repeatedly said he's not retiring, so don't expect an emotional press conference to announce his retirement anytime soon. But at age 45, along with all the drama surrounding his alleged steroid use, don't expect any teams to come calling either.
In 2007, Bonds was indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice after DNA evidence linked him to performance-enhancing drugs. After a lengthy appeal process, though, jury selection for the case has been postponed indefinitely. Most likely, Bonds won't serve anytime for the charges.

"I'm sure if they gave him two weeks in a cage, he'd be hitting amongst the best in the game right now," Borris said. "But Major League Baseball will never give him that chance."

In his 23-year career, Bonds has 762 home runs, 1,996 RBIs and a .444 on-base percentage. Too bad those numbers are tainted.
