It looks like more hard times for disgraced and troubled NBA star Jayson Williams.
After his involvement in a suspected drunk-driving crash on Manhattan's FDR Drive, Williams is set to face charges in his hospital bed as he is being treated for a broken bone in his neck and other injuries.
Williams refused a breath test after his accident Tuesday. Police say he appeared to have been drinking. They said Williams claimed that he wasn't driving the car, even though no one else was found in the vehicle after the crash.
The crash represents the latest setback for Williams, who beat a reckless manslaughter charge and aggravated manslaughter charge in the shooting of limo driver Costas Christofi at Williams' New Jersey home in 2002.
Witnesses testified that Williams had been drinking and was showing off a shotgun in his bedroom when he snapped the weapon shut and it fired one shot that struck Christofi in the chest. They also testified that Williams initially placed the gun in the dead man's hands and instructed those present to lie about what happened.
Williams was convicted with the minor charge of covering up the shooting, but he was never sentenced pending the outcome of a retrial.
In February, William's wife Tanya Young filed a divorce suit, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse, family abandonment, adultery and substance abuse.
Williams retired from the New Jersey Nets in 2000, after a decade in the NBA, unable to overcome a broken leg suffered a year earlier. At the time, he was in the second year of a six-year, $86-million contract.
He was later an NBA analyst for NBC but was suspended after the 2002 shooting.

This is what refusing to grow up and acting like a responsible black man leads too. The man child thug life leads up to black guys with a gun fetish shooting and killing someone. What he did to his driver was sick perverse and the act of a reckless sociopath. He committed an act of pure evil when he changed the crime scene. Like many man child ballers he just can't seem to stay out of trouble. He's been on a self destruction mission. There obsession for violent gun play they costing them everything. But they can't seem to stop acting the dangerous fool.

GOOD, Good, and Good 4 him. GOOD. It is my hope that he continues on his path of utter self-destruction (minus the inclusion of innocent persons)until he is physically destroyed and OUT of the way forever. His type has cast a long and wide shadow over the wonderful, repectful, mature & industrious black men we have for far too long. It's just too, TOO BAD that this crash didn't paralyze him from the neck down, or better yet, shut this fool's eyes permanently.
And Tanya Young had better get away from and stay away from him, or she's going to "check out" with him when it's all said and done.
