Over the weekend, NBC aired the second episode of "Who Do You Think You Are," a show that helps celebrities trace their family tree and genealogy. The second episode featured former NFL running back Emmitt Smith, whose goal was to trace his family back to Africa.

Smith started with his parents and traced his mom's side back to Alabama. He found family he'd never met and also county records that had wills, marriage licenses and other documents, detailing the kind of lifestyle his family had as slaves. Smith also traveled to Virginia to get more information about his family's slave owners, which had a very interesting story of its own.

In addition to the research and document finding, Smith took a DNA test to find out his genetic makeup and what area of Africa his lineage could have been in. Check out the full episode:
