Joey Porter, the opinionated Arizona Cardinals linebacker who was just raked through the coals last month and released from the Miami Dolphins for making explosive comments, is up to his neck in troubles again, but this time they're legal.

The ink is still wet on Porter's recently signed contract to play for the Cardinals for three years, and ironically, the NFL player was just arrested on three misdemeanors: DUI, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

California Highway Patrol reports that the 33-year-old NFL player was stopped by police at about 1:30 a.m. this past Saturday morning in Bakersfield, Calif.

The officers detected that Porter had been drinking and asked him to provide his driver's license. He refused. The patrolman then asked the mercurial player to step out of the vehicle, so that they could perform a sobriety test. Porter once again refused.

Dismissing the officer's requests, Porter allegedly began rolling up his car window.

One of the two officers immediately tried to reach in to the vehicle through the window to unlock the car door, and Porter reportedly struck the officer's hand. Officers then moved Porter's arm out of the way in order to open the vehicle's door.

Police reports indicate that Porter jumped out of his 2002 Mercedes-Benz in a confrontational manner. Porter was instructed to lay on the ground, but again, the 11-year NFL veteran refused.

Porter finally did place his hands behind his head, and police were able to cuff him. An unidentified uncle was a passenger in the vehicle and was also arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
