Woods has played well, carding his best first round score ever, shooting four-under-par. He then continued his streak with two-under-par for the second round, tying him for third in the Masters field.I am not sure if this is linked as directly as it might appear, but Nike stock has skyrocketed since Tiger's return. I own some shares of Nike, so I am a happy man. Part of what made me invest in Nike is because I believe in Tiger Woods. Woods will make his comeback and he will return to his status as the greatest golfer in history.
What makes Woods' performance so important for the PGA tour is that CBS sports is going to witness a ratings bonanza over the weekend. Tiger's return to the PGA on Thursday led to the most heavily-watched cable television program in history, banking 4.94 million viewers for ESPN. Disney also saw its stock skyrocket today as Tiger Woods put himself into contention in the Masters tournament.
Even when he's not in the middle of controversy, Tiger typically doubled the ratings of any tournament in which he was a participant. Now that he is making one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, the ratings could set television records. Tiger Woods is back my friends, and the world is going to be watching.

I am so glad tiger is back. His scandle has no bearing on his talent at golf, so in my opioion there should be no descent by any one, he's playing golf, is a joy to watch, and i believe he will return with a vengence.

meanvee, you and Boyce both use the phrase "doing a great job" at the Masters and tell the whole world how little you know about golf by using it. You are Boyce's best reader, one who has little knowledge of the subject. BV would be doing itself a big favor by having better writers, especially on the subject of golf, since BV now loves golf becasue of Tiger. And he had to cheat on his wife 100s of times for this to happen, who would have ever guessed?

Boyce calls this one of the greatest comebacks in all of sports history. Comeback from what? Cheating on his wife, disgracing his family (Mom two kids), letting down his fans and sponsors, reconciling his marriage would be a great comeback, not winning the Masters. Boyce is VERY proud of Tiger (someone he has never meet and someone who wouldn't give him 1 min of this time), but I know Tiger is not proud of himself even if he wins the week. It will be the emptiest sports victory of all time. I can see it now Tiger walking off the 18th green as Masters champ, looking around for his family and they are not there. Ian Polter walking off the 18th green one shot behind Tiger, being greeted by his Wife and kids. Who do you think will be more happy? What good is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul? or in this case family. Boyce is proud because Tiger now is just like him, a lonely man.
By the way, I like Tiger, but this is not a great comeback by any means.

why are you being so negative? tiger IS doing great at the Masters considering that he hasn't played competively for over 140 days.
i know the game and i'm a scratch golfer. it's a difficult game to master, especially when there are sooooooo many mental distractions. i know tiger brought this upon himself but until you are perfect.....
there are many who fall short including yourself.

I am glad that Tiger is back on the course and keeping his typical focus. I trust that he will keep working on his personal life...off the course.

hwill, I am talking about Boyces lack of golf knowledge, not Tigers play. The terms he uses are that of someone who knows nothing about the game. Most of his facts are incorrect and he should not be writing about golf. Did you ever answer the question "who did you play today" with "I did an amazing job on the course today"? No real golfer ever has. He talks golf like a 10 y/o and his only real interest in it is Tiger.
As a scratch player have you ever missed a putt and said "I aimed a little too far to the right"(this is how he referred to a missed Tiger eagle putt in a previous article) , if you really are a good golfer you wouldn't say that. Prove to me your a scratch player and tell me the proper terminology hwill, I hope you can answer correct, becasue if you can we have another thing in common.
I'm not perfect, but if I ever won the Masters may wife and daughter would be there to celebrate my victory.
Another example of Boyces new form of golf terminology "continued his roar to the top of the pile", hwill, have you ever heard that term?
I'm embarrassed as a golfer reading this guy, aren't you?

The best kept secret of all time is the complete re-design of the masters course after Tiger shattered all of the records in 1997. They planted a tree in every spot they could to "tiger proof" the masters and no one ever acknowledges that at masters time. As long as the whites (Jack, Arnie,Ben, Tom,etc.) were winning it was a "perfect" course
