Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson, who had been living large for years, recently admitted that he is absolutely penniless.
Unfortunately, Tyson has lived a financially reckless life, with fast, expensive cars; booze aplenty; drug dabbling; supporting hanger-ons; and mindless spending. He filed for bankruptcy seven years ago and is still reeling from its effects.
The famed boxer was recently interviewed on ABC-TV 'The View' and assured the panel of celebrity hosts that he has permanently buried the demons that once controlled his life.
Tyson, who was convicted and imprisoned for rape, has been married three times and has six children from various past relationships. Now, Tyson admits to solely concentrating on his true love, wife Lakiha "Kiki" Spicer (pictured below right) and his family.
When 'The View' co-host Joy Behar asked Iron Mike whether he had any money left in the bank at all, he responded, "No, I'm totally destituted and broke. I had a lot of fun. It [going broke] just happened. But I'm very grateful. I have an awesome life, awesome wife and awesome kids. I don't deserve to have the wife that I have; I don't deserve the kids that I have, but I do, and I'm very grateful." The 43-year-old said that he had to tear himself down to build himself up. Now he says he's in a good place, which is why he agreed to do an 'Animal Planet' reality show that follows him as he raises and races pigeons in his hometown of Brooklyn.
The show is set to air next year.

I'm not. For years, Mike has been surrounded by greedy people who all took advantage of him (Robin Givens, Don King, just naming two examples). He was not that smart so he was an easy mark. I believe the only people who actually cared for him were Cus D'Amato and his wife, and Jimmy Jacobs. After they were gone, then that left Mike open to be influenced by the wrong people and they just bled him dry. Hope the Animal Planet show works out for him.

This is why they should have a pension system set up for professional fighters, boxing is a sport, the other sports provide pensions for their professional employees and so should boxing, tyson brought excitement back to the heavyweight division, he's one of the all time greats, for him to go flat broke and the boxing sport not to help him out is pathetic, albeit it's his own fault for going broke, with a pension he would at least have a monthly check to survive on. I Don't want to see Tyson at a las vegas casino front door greeting people like they did to joe louis.

I remember i was about 12 when i saw Mike fight for the first time, man was he a monster in the ring. Don't hate the man, he, just like all and i do mean all are fighting some type of demons or addictions, or some sort of problems, no one is perfect. So you haters out there take a look in the mirror before you judge this man. Mike has found peace and thats what matters, he said it well, he doesn't deserve his wife or kids, but he is greatfull to have them, and plans to focus on them only. Life is not all about the almighty dollar only, if you think so? Then i challenge you to see how far in life you make it with all the temptation out there. Go ahead Mike, make everyone proud, ignore those who are negative!!
