Dwyane Wade's Divorce Finalized but Not Resolved

Dwyane Wade Divorce

Okay, I'm not one to get in to whether Dwyane Wade or any other celebrity athlete is able to remain married when we all know that the chances of a twentysomething NBA star staying happily married are about as good as Glenn Beck joining the Nation of Islam. One athlete after another tries it, and most of them fail. What's worse is that when they do fail, they fail to the tune of several milion dollars going in to the bank account of a woman they now hate. This is not to say that athletes shouldn't get married, but after seeing Tiger's wife rake him for a reported $750 million, it makes one wonder if there is a better way to do this.

To say that Wade's divorce is finalized would be an accurate yet loosely applied statement. While the couple is officially not a couple anymore, critical issues about the division of marital assets and custody of their children are still in dispute. Wade and his wife separated three years ago, leading the American public through a drawn-out drama as they've engaged in one shenanigan after another designed to undermine the other's happiness. Isn't that what love is all about these days? As usual, the children are the primary victims of this emotional disaster, and the millions they have in the bank will likely be used to pay for all the therapy the kids are going to need in the future. Not to hate on Wade or his wife, but I'm always sad to see this kind of thing take place.

Wade's wife, Siohvaughn, wasn't in court for the final decision, and her attorneys are planning to appeal. Apparently, she and her lawyers feel that it's inappropriate for a marriage to be dissolved without all custody and financial issues to be resolved. I'll admit that I find that to be a bit odd as well.
