The NFL's poster boy for trouble, Michael Vick, was hosting his 30th birthday party at a Virginia Beach Club last Friday when a man was reportedly shot outside in the wee hours of the morning.
Quanis Phillips, who was one of the co-defendants during Vick's infamous 2007 dogfighting case, did not sustain life-threatening injuries. He was treated at a local hospital, then released later Friday afternoon.
Vick, who was accompanied by his lawyer, Larry Woodward, was questioned by the Virginia Beach Police but is not a suspect. Police have made no arrests in the case.
Since Friday, Woodward has maintained that his client was not involved nor present when the shooting took place. Instead, the lawyer claims that Vick left the party at least 10 to 20 minutes before the 2 a.m. shooting occurred.
Reportedly, a fight broke out before the shooting incident. Witnesses and the victim were not forthcoming with any information at the time of the incident, according to police reports. Now, investigators have found witnesses who have provided them with pertinent facts.
They described the gunman as a black man wearing a white tank top and driving a white Cadillac Escalade.
Vick, who is currently on probation, said he did not invite Phillips to his gathering nor did he associate with him once inside the venue.
The Eagles, on the other hand, have said they are in a "wait-and-see" mode:
"We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia and are in the process of gathering all of the facts,'' the team said in a statement. "Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter."
The NFL is also investigating the shooting with regard to Vick's involvement. When Vick was reinstated to the NFL after being suspended for two years, Commissioner Roger Goodell said his margin for error would be "extremely limited."
The NFL will not be taking any immediate action against Vick until more facts are known, said spokesman Greg Aiello.

It show once again how self-destructive black folks could be.
Choose a career and a wealthy path OR Choose the Prison. Black man will choose the latter.
I don't why I will work my way out of the ghetto, into a life of luxury and all I want to do is return back into life in the project.
Mike, just tell me why a party of this nature is even necessary given all your losses.

For every friend Vick has, one is a THUG. He should have had a private party.

Agreed! Agreed! Agreed!
Black American men needs to realize that the wellfare and survival of their communities lies on their shoulder, and comport themselves accordingly. All these negative images, yet, they can't seem to learn or do better....SMH

The comments of BG and Sara show that idiocracy does occur in all races. Are only African American males capable of making these mistakes? The answer is no; given the mistakes of ALL people with access to wealth and the improper situations these athletes put themselves in; even YOUR PEOPLE, BG and Sara.

The reason why this party was necessary is because Vick knew who he wanted there, and who he didn't. If you watched his show on BET, you would've heard him say that he realized that the same "homies" in the hood that wanted him to keep it real by keep dogfighting with them are not there anymore, now that he has lost his money. The "keepin' it real" issue is the bottomline here, because on one side Vick knows who his true friends are at this point, because that's why they were invited there. On the other hand, this dude wasn't even invited to the party.

@ Toni.
I will wonder which planet you are from if by now you don't know that certain lifesyles are peculiar only to black males.
Only a black male rapper, for example, will buy a 16 yr. old son a Maybach worth nearly $400,000.00
for a birthday. Argument can be made that no one can tell anybody how to spend their money. A foolish statement at best.
I will tell my 16yr. old: I may have made it through rapping, but the bling bling life may not be the route I will want you to pursue.
I will buy you your own home for your 21st birthday on condition that you gain entrance into Yale or Havard law school.
Our lack of proper education always affect our decision making process regardless of how wealthy we are as a black man. Refer to Tupac, BIG, and many more. Wasn't P.Diddy involved in a shooting rampage before?
When ABC NEWS NIGHTLINE came up with a show on WHY SUCCESSFUL BLACK WOMEN CANNOT FIND A MAN, the answer is simple. Black men will rise to the top, then walk their way back into poverty.
I don't want to emerge from poverty like Tyson for example, acquired all those wealth and return back into life of destitute.
For all the million dollars in endorsements that Michael Vick had thrown away through a senseless game of dog fighting, if he would not redeem himself, he is a moron.

Ok,
I don't know if you and Sara might be black
but I do know that was ignorant was said. Not ALL BLACK PEOPLE wether athletes, singers, actors, ect.. live their lives like that? There are everyday people of all color famous or not that need to make better choices. But,who are we to condemn and tell how others how to live there life? Since you and Sara on here are so concerned why don't the two of you do something about it like in your community, educate, finance, budgeting your $$$$, ect..., and take action if you see what you don't like? Instead of putting brothas and sistas down, why not come up with solutions to help one another?
