Byron Scott Coaching the Cavs: Enough to Keep LeBron? Nope

Comments (1)

Byron Scott is a very good coach and the Cleveland Cavaliers now have him. While this is certainly a coupe for the Cavs, it's hardly enough to keep LeBron in the city that no one wants to live. James is now a free agent, and he's probably going to get out of that place. What's sad for LeBron, however, is that with Byron Scott as their coach, they might become a better team anyway.

Scott, a 49-year old NBA vet, has coached in both New Jersey and New Orleans. He won a few titles with the Lakers as a player and got the Nets to the championship as their coach. He's solid, and I'm surprised that he was even available for the job.

LeBron James did say that he'd like to play for a coach who'd been an NBA player in the past. Scott is that guy, having played 14 years in the NBA, with 11 of those years being with the Lakers. He has also shown himself to be effective at the art of creating something out of nothing, which is exactly what he did years ago with the New Orleans Hornets. LeBron might be intrigued by this hire, but again, I expect he'll be a Bull.
