Caster Semenya Wins Comeback Race in Finland

Caster Semenya, the South African runner who was being investigated to determine what gender she was, returned to the track at the Savo Games in Finland. She easily won an 800-meter race, her second since being allowed to compete, with a time of 2:02.41. Although Semenya was happy with the win, she was hoping to stay under the two-minute mark.

"The race was pretty hard, the pace was fast for me," Semenya told the Associated Press. "It helped me to run a faster time, so I'm quite happy with the performance."

Semenya will now head back to South Africa to train for the upcoming meets in Europe and the Commonwealth Games in October in New Delhi. Semenya's coach, Michael Seme, said that she needs a bit more practice to get where she needs to be and is looking forward to working with her.

"The speed is not there. It's still a long way," Seme said. "But it's going according to my plan."
Last week, Semenya won her first 800-meter race at the Lappeenranta Games with a time of 2:04.22
"I'm pretty happy with the performance," Semenya said. "Starting with 2:04 and 2:02 is good."
