The University of Southern California is feeling the pinch of the recent NCAA sanctions thanks to the receipt of illegal benefits by Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo while they were enrolled and playing for the school. The school was punished with four years of probation, a two-year bowl ban and brutal football scholarship restrictions, but since both Bush and Mayo are playing professional ball, the NCAA and USC can't really do anything to punish them – except maybe hurt their feelings?
And it looks like the school is doing just that. In a memo sent to USC supporters and staff, new school president Max Nikias announced that remnants of those two players are to be wiped out from the halls of the school:
"The Trojan family honors and respects the USC sporting careers of those persons whose actions did not compromise their athletic program or the opportunities of future USC student-athletes," Nikias said in his memo.
"Accordingly, I have instructed the senior vice president for administration to remove athletic jerseys and murals displayed in recognition of O.J. Mayo and Reggie Bush by mid-August -- before the incoming class of students moves on campus -- from Heritage Hall, the Galen Center and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The university also will return Mr. Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy to the Heisman Trophy Trust in August."

The NCAA has yet to ask for Bush's Heisman trophy back, but it appears that USC is taking a step ahead of them. The school only has a copy of the trophy while Bush has the original.
Bush was scheduled to do a video chat on Tuesday on EastBay.com, and it was likely he was going to be asked about the moves made by USC. Unfortunately, though, the chat was postponed - probably to avoid the line of questioning. He has yet to make a comment on USC's decisions.
